The Recruitment & Training Manager will support a large scale project within the department, leading a team of 2 to recruit, onboard and co-ordinate training plans for around 53 new hires

The duties for the post are as follows:

Oversee and take responsibility for all permanent and interim recruitment campaigns from start to finish. This includes:

  • Ensuring the team is set up to provide an efficient and effective service to all vacancy managers

  • Supporting managers through the recruitment process, working with recruiters and managers, arranging shortlisting and interviews;

  • Carrying out HR generalist responsibilities including induction contracts, induction, probation, exit interviews;

  • Maintaining and reviewing recruitment and training related policies and procedures;

  • Operating recruitment systems for both permanent and interim campaigns and ensuring business continuity through staff training and information sharing;

  • Maintaining accurate staffing data and associated databases and systems;

  • Maintain an effective suite of resource management information that monitors real-time/actual use of resources against programme plans, highlighting issues that require

  • Engage with external agencies and other suppliers in order to ensure effective management of recruitment and renewal activities;

  • Develop and implement the Annual Training Plan, ensuring that personal development plans agreed through the appraisal process are reflected in the planned training activities at a programme level

Identify and support staff training opportunities by:

  • Ensuring that the induction programme is reviewed and run regularly to support new starters/ recruits;

  • Ensuring staff are aware of training opportunities;

  • Ensuring training opportunities and events are booked and relevant to the population as it evolves


Michael Page HR are looking for a Recruitment & Training Manager with the following capabilities:

  • Demonstrable experience of setting up and running large scale recruitment projects, including creating/amending job descriptions, sourcing, interviewing, offer management, clearance and induction.

  • Experience of resource management within a project context, ensuring resources adequate to optimise delivery and that resource and training needs are maintained

  • Experience of training & development co-ordination

  • Prior exposure to Civil Service E-Learning Recruitment System is desirable OR recent exposure to Civil Service Recruitment

Job Offer

March 2017 start, 3 month contract, daily rate £250-300 dependant on experience
