Location: Home-Based but prepared to travel to Kent regularly as required

This business has a truly compelling story to tell and we are failing to find reasons why people would not want to work for them – we would! The business that you will be working for has about seven thousand employees working for it but is part of a much larger group that employees circa fifty-five thousand people.

They are looking to make a few key hires into HR as they seek to establish and deliver a great service to the business from this function. This is an established business but there is so much that you will be able to get your teeth into as you look to implement a resourcing strategy for the business. You will genuinely get to influence and develop how things are done and get to build on a lot of good practice that is already in place. There is still plenty to do with a real appetite from the business to drive improvement in this function so this will not be a boring role!

What will be keeping you busy?

You will manage the recruitment team (3 direct reports initially) that already has some great people working for it. You will be responsible for reviewing how things are done currently and you will look to drive improvements. That will include identifying technology requirements (including social media), advertising partners and establishing a list of trusted and cost-effective recruitment partners (like us!).

You will play a key role in developing the employer brand and creating a first-class candidate experience for people that apply to the business. This is genuinely a brilliant place to work and you will help the business get that across to the best talent in the market.

The business is not averse to investment but you will be expected to get as much value as possible from suppliers and source as many roles directly as is feasible. We are looking for someone that will be creative in their approach and will get the business as much bang for their buck as possible. The investment will be there, it will be your job to demonstrate a positive return on it.

Who are we looking for?

Ultimately we want a strategic talent acquisition specialist that is happy to roll their sleeves up. You will be an experienced Head of Resourcing that has operated in a large commercial business and has managed a high-performing resourcing team. You will be someone that knows what best practice looks like when it comes to talent acquisition and you will be able to put processes in place that truly meet the business’ needs. You will write a proactive sourcing strategy that helps the business to get the best talent available into the business on an ongoing basis.

Industry experience is not essential but we would like to see people that have experience of working in an operations and a multi-site environment. People that have worked in FMCG, logistics, manufacturing, or retail might fit well with this role but we are not hung up on sector experience. You should have a strong track record in the private sector with businesses of a reasonable level of magnitude though.

We really want someone that is passionate about what they do. This is a new role and you will be putting new processes in place and changing how things are done. Because of this we really want someone that can take colleagues (both blue and white-collar workers) at all levels with them. You will be engaging, credible, professional and importantly good-humoured.
