Job purpose

Working closely with senior managers and the General Counsel and Company Secretary to shape, develop and deliver the People Strategy, which will create a strategic function to enable the business to deliver against the Company’s overall objectives through our people.

Key responsibilities

  • Shape a People function that enables the business to meet its overall objectives
  • Responsible for organisational design as part of the Sustainable Business Improvement Plan (objectives)
  • Responsible for overseeing the entire employee journey
  • Working closely with the leadership team to drive change, including organisational design
  • Responsible for the overall Trade Union strategy and relationship, leading and guiding your People Partners who have the day-to-day union interactions
  • Ensure a good level of HR advisory services and support are being provided to line managers via People Partners on all day to day people issues
  • Develop a reward strategy to meet the business and people goals
  • Lead on employee engagement and involvement to deliver a strong and effective partnership between the business and its employees.
  • Ensure the organisation has effective learning and talent development
  • Ensure effective direct recruitment capacity and provide support for key appointments
  • Review the People Team structure to ensure that the department delivers operational excellence and gets the basics right ensuring all HR processes are well executed
  • Implement HR metrics reporting to the business and utilise for fact based decision-making
  • Embed the company values and behaviours to drive cultural change
  • Responsible for the People Team budget

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability and knowledge to successfully lead a HR team
  • Detailed knowledge of reward and reward strategy
  • Resilient and bold to ensure initiatives reach their full potential
  • Strong track record of HR delivery in a number of different environments
  • A People Team champion
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • Adaptability; able to maintain focus in a culture of rapidly changing priorities
  • Strong business acumen; insight and understanding of how the business environment operates
  • Quickly establish credibility and respect and build strong working relationships with department managers
  • Act as a role model for the organisation
  • Organisation development particularly around change management and developing organisational culture
  • CIPD Qualified
