South Region Employee Relations Manager
Our client a large global, matrix organisation has an exciting opportunity for an Employee Relations Manager to join them on a permanent basis covering the Southern Region. Home based, this role will lead a team of ER Consultants across the whole of the South of England - from Kent to Devon and beyond; as a result, you will need to be happy to travel extensively as required across the South of England. An ideal location to be based would be Hampshire / Surrey / Oxfordshire / Wiltshire / Berkshire for instance. This is a newly created Centre of Excellence team, so this a great time to join to help establish this ER team and deliver on the ambitious ER strategy for the UK.You will lead the ER team working across this very diverse business, supporting different divisions, product lines in challenging field environments. You will drive standardisation of processes for efficiency and consistency whilst protecting the business' integrit & will work to upskill and coach our managers and leaders to effectively manage employee relations issues at an early stage and foster positive working relationships with employees.To lead and coach a team of ER Specialists that effectively and efficiently supports all areas of this very varied business and develop the expertise in the team.Develop the capacity of line managers to manage ER problems locally, developing management styles to foster positive working relationships with employees, minimising the occurrence of line management problems and issues and fostering a positive climate for ER.Coach and develop managers to be competent and consistent in their execution of HR policies and procedures encouraging problems to be dealt with informally and as soon as possible, rather than allowing situations to escalate.To provide specialist ER advice and solutions that are cognisant of current legislation and tailored to company policies and procedures and business realities.To proactively manage and support the company in relation to all elements of TUPE and Mergers and Acquisitions. Ensuring all relevant processes are followed and compliance is met.To foster and support a partnership relationship with the unions at regional level. To form part of the negotiations teams for pay negotiations as required and to identify with the unions joint initiatives. When applicable work with the business to respond to any trade disputes and set contingency plans to minimise the impact on the service and bring the dispute to a swift conclusion.To support the ER and Policy Development Manager and the external solicitors with the management of Employment Tribunals claims as required.To alert and escalate any areas of non-compliance and or associated risks to the business to the Head of Employee Relations. The successful candidate will have strong management experience, ideally with experience of managing an Employee Relations or Advisory team gained from a unionised and regulated environment. CIPD Qualified ideally, with extensive ER and change management experience including dealing with complex disciplinary and grievance case work, change management, TUPE and M & A. Demonstrable experience of partnering with trade unions and a good understanding of the TU framework and collective bargaining. The successful candidate will have strong communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with ability to interact and engage at all levels.
