Department overview:

The EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Compensation team takes responsibility for all regional Compensation activities and works closely with the Global Compensation Advisory team on the implementation of global policy in the region.

Role description for the Compensation Associate:

Main responsibilities:

  • Assisting with analytic assignments in support of policy decisions and the assessment of the impact of new regulations and / or regulatory guidance
  • Playing a key role in the year end compensation process in the region working closely with HR Advisers, Payroll and Control Functions
  • Providing analytical support to key stakeholders in the region during the year-end process including CEO's office, Remuneration Committee and HRAs
  • Running the year-end Conduct process in support of the CEO's Executive Remuneration Review Forum
  • Contributing to the annual Remuneration Policy Survey Questionnaire and associated regulatory filings
  • Managing the regional Material Risk Taker ("MRT") identification process in accordance with the Firm's established policies and procedures;
  • Maintaining the regional MRT list and working with other Corporate functions (e.g., Finance and Compliance) to manage the MRT programme and associated compliance;
  • Providing specialist support to HR Advisers and the business in respect of senior hires, exits and international relocations
  • Management of policy exceptions
  • Develop strong working relationships with other HR specialist teams including global mobility, benefits, payroll, employment tax, and finance teams to ensure compensation practices are operated properly in line with global and regional policies
  • Assist the Employment Taxes function with HMRC enquiries concerning current and former employees
  • Dealing with ad-hoc queries from employees or other specialist functions outside HR (e.g., Legal, Compliance etc)
  • Taking ownership of analysis supporting annual regulatory and statutory reporting (e.g., EBA High Earners / Benchmarking reports, Pillar 3 disclosures and mandatory Gender Pay Reporting disclosures from 2018
  • Support the Compensation and Benefits team on ad-hoc compensation projects
  • Advising on the tax, legal and accounting implications of compensation proposals


The successful candidate will have a proven track record in the Compensation function of a global financial services organisation or specialist consulting firm with extensive experience in the FS sector.

We require a strong team working ethic, and the ability to be able to work effectively within a challenging and time-pressured environment.

Essential Skills Required for the Compensation Associate:

  • Advanced Excel user
  • Quantitative / analytical mind-set
  • Experience of delivering the year end compensation process in a global financial services institution
  • Familiarity with the regulation of compensation in the European Financial Services sector
  • Familiarity with regulatory / statutory compensation reporting
  • Proven ability to draft clear, succinct communications for senior management, both in Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience of contributing to Remuneration Committee / Board level presentations
  • Minimum graduate level qualification in a numerical / analytical subject
