Want to…

  • Join a fast-paced charity with BIG ambitions?
  • Help take our People and OD Team to the next level?
  • Work with a team of highly motivated, ambitious and passionate staff?

Up for the challenge? The Human Resources and Organisational Development Manager role at Asthma UK could be for you!

Why Asthma UK?

It’s ‘only’ asthma right? Wrong. There are 5.4 million people with asthma in the UK, which means asthma affects one in every 11 people and one in five households. With the right medicines and good basic care, most people can manage their symptoms and live well with asthma. But every 10 seconds someone in the UK has a potentially life-threatening asthma attack and every day the lives of three families are devastated by the death of a loved one; tragically two thirds of these deaths are preventable.

Asthma UK’s mission is to stop asthma attacks and cure asthma – and we want to end the complacency that surrounds asthma by designing and delivering ground breaking products and services. We have an international reputation in asthma research and are increasingly sought-after to broker innovative partnerships across sectors and disciplines.

We could not deliver this without our enthusiastic team of around 80 talented employees and our strong commitment to delivering a culture that instils high levels of employee motivation and performance.

What the role involves

As our Human Resources & Organisational Development Manager, you’ll join our 80+ strong team of highly motivated, mainly millennial charity professionals. We have recently undertaken a major programme to change our organisation model to be more strategic, agile, collaborative and digital – all to achieve our vision to Stop Asthma Attacks and Cure Asthma.

Reporting to the Director of People and OD this role will ensure the core HR services from recruitment to reward are effectively delivered and will assist in the delivery of a continuous programme of internal change – all focused on developing and retaining our workforce to achieve real impact with people with asthma in a constantly changing world.

We are open to HR professionals from different sectors, though empathy with charitable objectives and knowledge of working with similarly sized teams in a fast paced, customer focused organisation would be an advantage.
