About us

We are a small to medium sized training consultancy looking for someone to join our employee owned business and help shape our future.

We specialise in the design and delivery of bespoke, experiential development programmes for both private and public-sector organisations; we work across the UK and, occasionally, internationally.  Our programmes blend creative approaches including leadership challenges, working with professional actors, business simulations, psychometrics and a range of pragmatics models and theories.  Fundamentally our programmes develop the skills of individuals, this is done with a sharp focus on the application of these skills in the participants’ organisational context.

Role summary

We have developed a strong brand built around ensuring that what we do makes a difference to our clients’ businesses.  In our relationships with people we value professionalism, clarity, integrity, flexibility and good humour.  We now have a vacancy for a Training Consultant to join our team in Bristol.  We have a clear business strategy and we are looking for someone who will help us achieve our goals and be an integral part of our business as it grows.

We are looking for someone who has energy, initiative, creativity and a desire to learn and develop; someone who combines a passion for learning and development with a healthy dose of pragmatism about translating learning into the real world.  Importantly, we are looking for someone who wants to help us grow the business.  This is a challenging role with considerable variety and breadth of responsibility that will mean being able to deliver multiple priorities and deal with competing pulls on time.

As a training consultant it will mean working with clients from many different sectors and industries and with a wide range of participants; this will include senior leaders, front line managers, graduates, school leavers and technical experts.

Key aspects of the role:

  • Project and programme management
  • Design and delivery of creative, experiential programmes
  • Business development

Role specifics Core requirements with demonstrable experience:

Facilitation of high quality, experiential training interventions, sometimes leading the facilitator team and sometimes being led; as such you will need the skills to co-facilitate effectively and be a strong, supportive team player.

Project management of a range of programmes with existing and new clients within Interaction which will involve: liaising with our clients to ensure that projects run smoothly and that programmes are delivered to a high level of quality and consistency; working closely with our project coordinators to ensure that project logistics are in place; responsibility for the design and delivery of the training itself, along with briefing and managing the facilitator team.

Core requirements with scope for development (previous experience not essential):

In line with our sales and marketing strategy this role will play a key part in proactively identifying and pursuing potential new clients to bring in new revenue.  You will be involved in the full remit of sales and marketing activities, including social media contributions, networking events, trade exhibitions, client meetings and presentations, and writing proposals and tender submissions.

About you

You’ll be ready to join an organisation that you can become integral to, helping shape its future and sharing in its success.  Whilst you may not have business development experience, you will need to be happy to develop the skill – with appropriate support.  We are a small business where everybody makes a difference; you’ll be a key part of our consultancy team.

You’ll have recent experience in large organisations within a learning and development department.  You’ll have designed and delivered training programmes in areas such as leadership/management development and personal skills, and will be able to provide examples of your specific role within the development and delivery of these programmes.

You will have a keen eye for spotting, and a hunger for delivering, new business opportunities against some clear measures of success.  You will be focused in your approach, resilient in defeat, and determined that your efforts will deliver results.

You will be a clear and confident communicator (particularly questioning and listening skills), with a commercial mind set and strong written communication skills.  You will have the ability to use your own initiative and be creative and innovative.  You will also need to be able to plan and organise your diary and prioritise your work in order to deliver the key elements of the role.

Enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and adapt to our approach and methodology, and the ability to work in a team will be essential.

Role requirements

You will be based at our offices in Bristol, with some flexibility around working from home.  You will also be required to work at client offices and training venues across the UK and internationally.

You will need to hold a full driving licence and prepared to travel.

The role requires you to be regularly be way from away from home overnight – usually for more than one to three nights at a time in any given week.

Having accreditation in a psychometric such as MBTI will be an advantage, although not essential.  Similarly, being (or working towards being) qualified with CIPD or another relevant L&D qualification will be useful.

What you’ll get

  • Working with our Directors and Consultants you’ll get support, guidance and development.  You’ll also get full administrative support from our office-based project coordinators.
  • Good working conditions, with up to date technology and with offices in central Bristol near St Nicholas market; a vibrant and interesting part of the city.
  • A development plan to progress within the role and work towards a Senior Consultant role.

  • Salary of up to £45k depending on experience, plus discretionary profit related bonus.
  • 30 days holiday entitlement.
