The role of the Director of People is a role intended to inspire, support and develop our brilliant and committed people. You will have to know your stuff, but you will need to know our people even better. Peter Brett Associates (PBA) is an ambitious award-winning consultancy supporting the construction and property markets. We employ over 700 talented individuals across our 15 offices in the UK and central Europe. We plan to double in size over the next 5 years and we are looking for an ambitious leader for our highly valued People team. 

Our growth depends on delivering excellent technical and commercial outcomes for our clients. These outcomes are only achieved by confident professionals working closely together with a high degree of interdependent confidence. Our culture and our approach to developing our people are critical in making this happen. As a strategic leader in the practice you will help shape these. 

We are already successful in attracting and retaining high calibre planners, engineers and scientists through our people process. As part of our expansion plan we will require you to make use of your market knowledge and professional networks, have an instinct for continuous improvement and take ownership of Practice-wide change management programmes for the benefit of our people.

Strong empathic leadership capabilities, a vision for delivering the best learning and development programmes in the industry, an authentic coaching style, as well as an appetite for visiting and listening to our staff is a high pre-requisite. This job will appeal to those candidates who like to work at a strategic level but also still enjoy the ‘hands on’ operational aspect of HR. You will be supported by an experienced team of 10, covering specialist Business Partners across Recruitment, Generalist HR, Talent and Learning and Pensions.

With most ambitious growth programmes the ability to foresee stresses and strains in the business is crucial and developing strong stakeholder engagement through the UK offices will help you to project plan for the future. This will include accurate workforce planning, optimum use of management information systems, key performance indicators and staff engagement surveys, ensuring return on investment. 

To succeed in this position you will have strong commercial acumen, achieved Chartered Membership of the CIPD; a proven track record of ensuring efficient service delivery in multi-site professional services organisations; significant experience of leading organisational development; employee relations; performance management; compensation/benefits and talent management.
