Apprenticeships Programme Manager
The post holder will work closely with team's including Workforce development, HR, Education and Enterprise to ensure that apprenticeships are integrated into wider plans for improving access to the labour market and workforce skills. The scheme will have clear links with Volunteering, Work experience, the Graduate programme and will complement and enhance the existing workforce development offer.
A successful candidate will manage all aspects of the delivery of the Apprenticeships Programme including staff and resources, performance, marketing and evaluation and support services to managers and apprentices.
*To be responsible for the delivery of the targets associated with the apprenticeships levy
*To provide leadership and management to a range of staff, training providers and apprentices to ensure the success of the Apprenticeships programme
*Work with LA Maintained schools and build links between all levels and types of staff including careers advisers and subject leads to encourage more young people to enter apprenticeships
*To lead and manage the development of close working relationships between Skills, Education and Workforce development to create a strategic approach to apprenticeships
*To oversee the design and delivery of an effective monitoring and reporting system for the project which will ensure effective monitoring and reporting of progress and early identification of performance issues
*To work with colleagues and Skills partners to design and commission effective training packages to support unemployed residents to access apprenticeships
*To develop and implement a coherent strategy to maximise the benefits within the company and the city of the apprenticeships levy across recruitment, workforce skills and skills for the supply chain.
*To lead on the development and implementation of a comprehensive support programme for managers, staff and apprentices
*To work with Communications and other colleagues to design and deliver a high quality marketing and promotions strategy to increase awareness of and uptake of apprenticeships and levy funded training
*To provide strong management and leadership to the team to ensure they are working as one team achievement the best possible outcomes for managers, apprentices and staff and success for the project
*To resolve issues that may arise with colleagues and managers in a collaborative and solution focused way - keeping colleagues on board and understanding the varying priorities of different partner agencies
*To be the lead officer for the project working with senior officers, partners and politicians - promoting the programme model and its outcomes
*To provide overall leadership and management of partnerships, projects, activities and training events to support access to apprenticeships within specific areas of council work
*To lead and contribute to wider team working as agreed with the line manager, Head of Service and Director
*To represent the service as required in external and internal meetings and events
*To participate in the wider development of the service and contribute to service improvement as required
*To participate in staff development, appraisal and training as appropriate, including continuous professional development
*To demonstrate a commitment to Continuous Personal and Professional Development (CPPD)
*Experience of working at senior level in skills, apprenticeships, training and employment with the public sector
*Experience of managing staff and complex programmes involving multiple stakeholders and challenging targets
*Experience of designing and implementing effective monitoring and reporting and evaluation systems
*Demonstrable experience of achieving apprenticeship outcomes through collaborative work
