While this role is based in Southampton, the successful candidate will be required to support the business across all UK sites which will involve travel, they must also be prepared to support and travel to Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland sites if and when required. This is a full-time, permanent role and will require a considerable degree of commitment, flexibility and adaptability on the part of the post holder. 

As an HR Advisor you will be the first point of contact for managers requiring clarity and guidance on people issues. You will play a key role in the team and will be expected to perform a full and comprehensive HR advisory service across all aspects of the organisation. You will work on both operational and strategic projects to support the delivery of the key HR initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide HR advice and support to the business across all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including: Recruitment & Selection; Onboarding; Attendance Management, Employee Relations, Recognition & Reward, Payroll; Health Screening; Performance Management & Development, and Employee Engagement
  • Liaise with local management on all HR issues and offer sensitive advice and support in a timely manner
  • Deal with day to day Human Resource queries from employees, offering timely advice and resolution
  • Support the HR Business Partner with the design and delivery of operational and strategic projects as required

Person Specification: HR Advisor

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a good standard of education up to degree level and be CIPD qualified (ideally Graduate membership) 

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ practical experience working within an HR department at an advisory level in the provision of generalist HR support
  • A sound understanding of employment legislation and relevant codes of practice (UK) 
  • Solid experience of positive and proactive stakeholder management including Trade Unions representatives
  • Experience of working in a complex unionised (ideally multi-site, multi-shift manufacturing) environment
  • Experience of delivering HR training on policies and procedures
  • Experience of Onboarding employees

  • Communication skills including the ability to communicate in a logical way, to listen and to clearly present information to others
  • Analytical skills including the ability to quickly and accurately assimilate information from complex verbal and numerical data
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a demanding environment
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • High level of competency in the use of MSOffice packages
  • Good verbal, written and numerical skills
