The school employs approximately 400 members of Teaching and Business staff across the two school sites and the HR function covers all aspects of people management including recruitment, safeguarding training, conditions of employment, performance management and employee relations.

A prestigious and academically autonomous College and Junior School who work together to a 'one-school' principle, educating in excess of 1,600 students across the two school sites. Based in Weybridge.

Senior HR & Recruitment Officer - Education- Weybridge
70% Recruitment and 30% Human resources
400 Employees - Office staff, Marketing, Finance, Gardeners, Catering, Cleaners etc.

Full-time, 52 weeks a year, choice of hours: 7.30-4.30 / 8-5 / 8.30-5.30

The Senior HR and Recruitment Officer is responsible for the following:

  • Overseeing and delivery of the recruitment process
  • Managing the recruitment budget / authorising recruitment advertising and the use of agencies (where appropriate)
  • Drawing up / checking job descriptions for recruitment purposes
  • Ensuring all safer pre-employment / recruitment checks are carried out
  • Entries and updates to the Single Central Register
  • Issuing /checking employment contracts and all recruitment paperwork
  • Supporting managers with the induction and on-boarding process for their new staff
  • Dealing with changes to terms and conditions of employment
  • Helping to maintain the personnel databases and both paper and electronic personnel files, with full access rights to staff and students SIMs records
  • Dealing with general HR and employee queries and related correspondence
  • In conjunction with the Head of HR, providing all managers with advice and support on the full range of HR matters, particularly sensitive matters such as absence, performance management and discipline issues
  • Ensuring compliance with current ISI / DfE regulations and all relevant aspects of employment law
  • Liaison with the Finance Department for the monthly payroll process
  • Deputise for, and undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed by, the Head of Human Resources.

Profile

Senior HR & Recruitment Officer - Education- Weybridge

Knowledge & Exposure

  • Associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development via examination (Chartered ACIPD) with a current working knowledge of operational HR
  • HR Generalist with a strong background in recruitment and onboarding of new starters
  • Up-to-date knowledge of employment law and employee relations issues
  • General understanding of HR databases and the payroll function
  • Recent exposure to supporting and advising middle managers and staff on employment issues, interpreting and implementing HR policies, conditions of service and relevant legislation
  • Skills and abilities
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and rapport at all levels through outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent professional written communication skills, including a high standard of written English, are essential
  • Excellent IT skills with the ability to use a range of computer office packages
  • Must be able to work well both independently and as a part of the bigger school team
  • Highly proficient in data base skills e.g. SIMS and other School packages (training provided)
  • The ability to balance priorities and take responsibility for the completion of a task
