Your new role
Our client has a robust Sales Academy which is aimed at developing new and existing sales people. It comprises of various development initiatives which capitalize on the 70/20/10 learning model.
The Senior Learning and Development Officer will join their expanding, award winning team to oversee and further develop the Sales Academy provisions. This role is suitable for an experienced L&D practitioner who may be looking to take the next step in their career. The role offers the autonomy to shape the sales provision through the launch of new initiatives, whilst managing and improving the existing practices. This role will be based in Basingstoke with travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the Sales academy and all other sales development resources and initiatives within the organisation. Including but not limited to:
  • Classroom sales training
  • Sales manager development
  • Sales coaching and the coaching framework
  • Sales development plans
  • Onboarding of new starters in all sales departments; Induction; Assessment; probationary review process
  • Design, delivery and evaluation of sales training aligned to business needs
  • Researching best practice and implementing new initiatives to develop the Sales Academy, ensuring it is both results and learner focussed
  • Managing stakeholders ensuring that all development needs are being raised with the Head of T&E
  • Supporting line managers with the ongoing development of their teams including the annual review process, probationary reviews, coaching and ongoing training and ensuring all employees have personal development plans
  • Delivering targeted sales workshops, aligned to competencies, to support managers to drive performance
  • Designing and implementing a development programme for internal account managers who are looking to develop into external sales roles
  • Reviewing, revising and updating learning and development material to ensure the department offers the highest standard at all times with initiatives that are credible and in line with business objectives
  • Coordinating the logistics and resources of all L&D interventions ensuring that business needs are a priority and that any corresponding administration is up to date
  • Additional ad-hoc activities as specified by the Head of Talent & Engagement
  • Keeping informed of developments in the organisation and the wider IT industry, as well as in the learning and development field
  • In conjunction with the Apprenticeship Manager, aligning internal sales training content to the national apprenticeship standards for Sales, to allow the organisation to offer in house sales apprenticeships
  • Demonstrate a strong awareness of and commitment to Ethics and Compliance and the DCC Group Code of Conduct.

What you'll need to succeed
Essential Requirements

  • Graduate or graduate calibre
  • Experience of working in a fast paced, sales driven environment
  • Understanding / knowledge of the full training cycle and the sales / account management cycle
  • Demonstrable experience of managing multiple projects from conception through to implementation
  • A strong facilitator with an engaging, interactive and flexible delivery style
  • Driving licence and willingness to travel to other office locations as required
  • Demonstrable experience in helping others to develop
  • Self-starter with a 'can-do' attitude
  • Willingness to study towards an assessors qualification related to the delivery of in house sales apprenticeships
  • Credible in sales and sales delivery


Desirable Requirements

  • Organisation skills - able to plan and prioritise own time and be self-motivated
  • Willingness to study towards a professional L&D qualification
  • Understanding of apprenticeship frameworks and how to align to internal training
  • Experience / knowledge of the ISM sales standards and frameworks


What you'll get in return
A base salary of £35,000 - £40,000 plus benefits
