We believe that safeguarding is everyone’s business and is integral to the culture, mission and structures of the Church.

The National Safeguarding Directorate (NSD) provides professional safeguarding advice to the Church of England on matters of national policy as part of its wider transformation plan, which includes the development and implementation of national training, quality assurance and audit, and work with survivors of abuse.

The training and development function has a central role in developing, ensuring implementation and delivering a national training and development framework; training and supporting diocesan safeguarding teams and commissioning and delivering training modules.

Post Introduction

As Safeguarding Training and Development Manager, you will provide strategic leadership and management of the National Safeguarding Training and Development Framework.

Your key priorities will include progressing the operational plan for the development and delivery of the National Safeguarding Training and Development Framework and its phased implementation and being the senior national source of professional advice on safeguarding training and development matters.

To be successful, you will need the confidence and ability to increase the capacity and expertise of parishes, dioceses and other Church of England institutions to respond to safeguarding concerns and provide support to victims and survivors.

This is a fixed term contract (maternity cover) expected to last for 12 months

You will work remotely delivering training across the country and must therefore be willing to work away from home, occasionally at weekends.  You will also be based at Church House in central London.

Interviews will be held on the 15th March 2019

In return we offer a unique environment with opportunities for continuous learning, generous annual leave for work life balance, season ticket loans and a range of benefits including discounted entry to attractions and what we feel is a market leading package when it comes to our pension scheme.
