Your new role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the constabulary transformation and change portfolio as an Improvement Consultant. You will provide internal consultancy at corporate, portfolio, programme and project level to support and influence strategy and change development and delivery.

You'll question organisational thinking and approach challenges creatively through internal consultancy assignments. As an experienced and motivated candidate, you will help the development and implementation of a range of improvement and change initiatives. You'll pro-actively lead on the delivery of improvement initiatives at corporate and directorate level - including reviews of processes, functions and services. You'll use a range of approaches and techniques e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, Lean or Six Sigma, Soft Systems, writing business cases, process mapping, gathering business requirements.

What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for Improvement Consultants who have significant experience in continuous improvement and business change within a large and complex organisation. This opportunity will suit Improvement Consultants who can successfully evidence their skills in an advisory capacity, providing professional advice and expertise. You will need to provide tangible examples of quality work in business improvement activity or projects which you managed/led in a complex landscape with a variety of stakeholders.

You will have a breadth of direct experience in using a range of tools and techniques to elicit and analyse risks and opportunities and act as a catalyst for continuous improvement. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential to draw reasoned conclusions from complex data - quantitative and qualitative. Knowledge and understanding of business change and analysis approaches and techniques is important (for example - you might have experience with methodologies such as PRINCE2, Agile, Lean or Six Sigma). Success in this pivotal role requires a clear ability to understand complex problems with an enquiring mind and an approach which is innovative, communicative and collaborative. You'll need to be a professional, credible, solution focused and confident self-starter, with strong communication and influencing skills. We're looking for Improvement Consultants who are well versed in guiding and supporting business in decision making utilising business change and analysis approaches and techniques. This facilitative role does not have significant line management responsibilities; however, you'll be required to be diplomatic and influential to lead improvements across the organisation.

Please note: vetting is essential to commence this post and employment offers are all subject to security checks.

This role will be largely based at the impressive headquarters in Portishead (with secure parking and on-site facilities) but the ability to travel freely around the force area is essential.
