GLF Schools is a growing multi-academy trust, operating across five local authorities supporting schools to enable the best outcomes for their children and students.

The Payroll Team sits within the HR function and is responsible for providing a payroll service for over 30 schools.  The post holder will be based at the head office in Banstead, Surrey, although there will be some requirement to travel between the schools.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong HR payroll professional to lead and coach the Payroll Team, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality payroll service, compliance with all statutory requirements and providing accurate and timely reports and payments.

Experience of using integrated Payroll/HR system is essential and knowledge of the MidlandHR iTrent system would be advantageous.

Reporting into the HR Director you will have experience of operating at a senior level with responsibility for managing and developing payroll professionals. You will provide specialist advice, guidance and interpretation on pay and related matters in order to provide an efficient and cost-effective payroll service. You will also be expected to provide advice on the Local Government Pension and Teachers’ Pension Schemes and liaison with The Pensions Regulator.  In addition you will have the ability to deliver payroll and system training to central and school based staff.

You will lead the development of the Payroll elements of Payroll/HR system, rationalising administration and reducing data input, while taking the Data Protection principles into account.  You will also be expected to interrogate the data to provide strategic reports.    Excellent working knowledge Microsoft products such as Word and Excel are essential. You will also be required to run and create reports through our reporting tool of SAP Business Objects.

There is the opportunity to work on people strategy projects including leading on the benefits project.

The successful candidate will have exceptional knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation and national insurance as well as strong problem solving, numeracy, communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.  In addition you will have the ability to work under pressure, be flexible in your approach, meet critical deadlines and be able to gain credibility quickly.

Candidates must be a member of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) or equivalent body and will ideally hold a CIPD qualification at least level 5 or be in the process of working towards this; and with significant experience of managing a payroll function.
