Employee Relations and HR Advisor - £30-36k – Newark
This is an excellent opportunity to join this market leading, global business whilst they experience a period of cultural change and transformation.
Job Purpose
To positively manage employee relations across in order to create high levels of employee involvement, commitment and engagement, as well as better health and well-being for employees. Work closely with managers across the business to train and educate on managing employee relations to establish trust-based relationships with employees. Focus on engagement efforts to create a more productive workforce and engage and motivate employees at all levels to help reduce absence levels, improve retention and increase the skills base across the business.
Key aspects of the role:
Manage complex Employee Relations cases
Manage both individual and collective relationships in the workplace
Work with Trade Unions to ensure a harmonious relationship
Create a mechanism to allow an employee voice / Works Council
Support and coach managers to build a positive employee relations climate
Advise and coach managers on ‘managing conflict’ and ‘managing difficult conversations’
Provide conciliation, mediation, and other forms of dispute management
Manage collective bargaining, information and consultation, arbitration and industrial action
Work with recognised unions to negotiate pay and conditions
Improve employee relations and employee engagement
Support the development and implementation of employee recognition schemes
Increase leadership capability across the site through coaching and mentoring
Work with management to develop a pipeline of talent and successors
To keep abreast of developments in employment legislation and case law
The ideal candidate will be/have:
Educated to degree level in a business discipline or equivalent
Member of the Chartered Institute Of Personnel & Development
3 years plus experience in an Employee Relations role
Experience of working within a unionised environment
Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and ER best practice.
Confident in influencing, negotiating, facilitating, consulting and advisory skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish strong working relationships
Exceptional communication skills
Pragmatic, commercially aware and resilient
Excellent project leadership, management and facilitation skills
Good analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail
Excellent computer literacy skills – Microsoft Office and HR database
