An exciting opportunity for a 6 month FTC Capability and Development Manager. Based in Swindon.


Your new role

  • Align your work with the whole function and the People Team to achieve cultural change
  • Create outreach opportunities within the job market and the tech, digital and startup landscape. Work with other members of the senior team to help become recognised leader
  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement
  • Develop and grow a diverse and inclusive digital apprenticeships and interns programme to grow and support local digital talent
  • Develop and grow a paid internship programme
  • Design and implement performance measures and KPIs to measure the value and success of the digital capability programme, inform future learning and development activities, and demonstrate return on investment.
  • Design, deliver, evaluate to improve the digital capability programme, following defined KPIs, ensuring that this complements the organisation's strategic direction and business plans
  • Develop and implement a professional development programme colleagues, including all learning and development related milestones, working collaboratively with the People team
  • Engage managers and colleagues in People and Learning & Development, to identify individual- and team- business related training needs, and align these with organisation-wide learning and development programmes
  • Design, commission or develop appropriate training and interventions for both the broader capability programme and the team
  • Design and develop a robust and inclusive digital apprenticeship and internship programme
  • Develop and implement robust and equitable recruitment and training procedures for the team, in conjunction with People colleagues
  • Lead on technical recruitment for the team, including engagement with specialist agencies and development of technical panels where required
  • Champion your programme of work with senior management
  • Design and deliver an organisation-wide programme of development and learning around digital capability and confidence, in conjunction with Learning & Development colleagues
  • Work with People and Learning & Development colleagues to identify ways to support people at all levels of the organisation in understanding how increased digital capability can improve their effectiveness, performance and ability to work
  • Be aware of new ideas, changes and methodologies within the digital community, bringing in speakers, trainers etc to build and expand the team's skillset
  • Where third party suppliers, such as training and recruitment agencies are involved, you will be the first escalation point for any issues, build relationships and ensure appropriate use of budget


What you'll need to succeed

  • Evidence of professional knowledge of capability development
  • Evidence of continued path of learning, either formal or informal
  • Completion of a relevant professional qualification, for instance in technical recruitment or capability building, is desirable, but demonstrable professional experience of technical recruitment or capability programme development is essential
  • Demonstrable experience of setting up robust hiring practices, career development plans and training strategies
  • Demonstrable experience of setting up apprenticeships and internship programmes
  • Demonstrable experience of leading or managing technical recruitment into multidisciplinary digital or technology teams
  • Understanding of the role of a technical recruitment consultant
  • Demonstrable experience of leading or managing a capability building or skills development programme
  • Demonstrable experience of leading or organising learning events, lectures, seminars or recruitment fairs
  • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrable experience in writing job descriptions, structured interview questions and agency communications
  • Understanding of the recruitment and onboarding process in a large organisation
  • Experience of creating personal development reviews that meet SMART objectives
  • Desire to share expertise within the wider tech community
