Senior Employee Relations Manager - Human Capital

The Senior Employee Relations Manager is part of the Employee Relations and Policy Advice (ERPA) team, we provide commercially focused internal advice and know-how on the risks and rights of major individual employee relations cases and firm wide initiatives (eg; restructuring, mobility, headcount and TUPE activity). Our primary clients are HC (Human Capital) contacts as well as partners and other managers of the business.
We also work with and advise other People Teams such as Recruitment and Reward & Benefits. We are responsible for ensuring that the firm’s employment terms and related documents/policies are in line with its people strategy and with best practice and legislation.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced HC professional with a good working knowledge of employment law and proven hands-on experience of employee relations cases and initiatives, who is interested in developing their career as a subject matter expert in this area.

This role has the following key strands:

Management of both complex and/or high risk ER cases in conjunction with the HC team with a focus on advice, guidance and coaching. This may include advising the business on the appropriate strategy to manage Employment Tribunal claims as well as managing the relationship with PwC legal representation in response to those claims or other matters.

  • Provide advice and guidance to HC and the business on TUPE (including bids, acquisitions, and disposals)
  • Strategy and implementation advice on business restructuring and office moves or closures.
  • Responsible for contractual documentation, such as the Employment Manual and recruitment letters.
  • Ensuring that the appropriate guidance is fit for purpose for employees in respect of their entitlements, rights and obligations
  • Activities within ERPA’s firm-wide areas of concern which include participating in cross-LoS (line of service) and HC-wide projects.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have significant hands-on experience of dealing with ER matters such as misconduct, employee grievances, employee sickness/health & wellbeing, performance management, employment disputes in PwC or elsewhere;
  • Have experience in dealing with business restructuring such as head count reduction, TUPE, office moves, etc.;
  • Be effective and professional communicators, able to
  • Draw relevant facts from, and give guidance to, clients some of whom will have little or no employee relations knowledge;
  • Convey credibility in this field to partners/business clients and HC colleagues;
  • Draft written communications that combine ease of reading with technical clarity; and present to a HC or line/people manager audience at training events/briefings etc.;
  • Have a flexible and supportive approach to working within a team;
  • Have strong analytical skills and be able to gather and analyse information, problem-solve, and make decisions. It is expected that they will be IT literate with good experience of Excel and Powerpoint (or Google equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of WorkDay is desirable
  • CIPD Level 5 or above in HR or equivalent is desirable
