Artis HR are currently supporting an exciting business in central London with the recruitment of a Head of HR. Working for an international yet smaller organisation where you can truly have an impact but part of a much larger group. This is a 12 month FTC paying £60-70,000 pa dependant on experience. Close to Holbourn & Chancery Lane Tube station.

Role Summary (including, but not limited to)
The purpose of this role is to partner with the business, acting as the key advisor to provide HR expertise and advice as well as helping to drive all people related activities, such as; appraisals and compensation, performance management, people initiatives, cultural change and handling employee relations issues. This role covers London as well as international offices (New York, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Dubai and Berlin) and works closely with Partners as well as HR colleagues within the wider Group internationally. This role reports to the Partner for People (COO) and has one direct report, an HR Advisor. This role is a 12-month fixed term contract based in the London office
Responsibilities:

Performance assessment and remuneration
*Coordinate annual appraisal and remuneration process for all offices
*Coordinate salary and promotion process for all offices - working in tandem with Partners
*Manage any performance issues with People Managers, providing coaching on how to handle difficult appraisal discussions and follow through on any on-going issues
*Work with Partners to identify key talent and look at ways to develop and retain key talent whilst focussing on performance management issues

Employee relations/legal
*Ensure policy compliance (handbook, policies/practice/e-learning training across our offices)
*Handle any complex employee relations issues including terminations, disputes, grievances, disciplinaries, supported by the HR Advisor and HR international colleagues where applicable
*Provide guidance to HR Advisor on employee relations issues
*Advise and manage restructuring/redundancy where necessary

Secondments and Transfers
*Manage both short-term and long-term secondments and transfers process end to end
*Agree and negotiate terms of secondment (including calculation of packages); working with various stakeholders
*Oversee relevant paperwork and manage logistics including visas and sourcing accommodation - supported by the HR Advisor and HR international colleagues
*Managing the process for returners; including re-induction and salary negotiation, ensuring move back to the home office is supported and seamless

Training and Development
*Oversee the annual global Induction Programme
*Manage the externally facilitated Career Development Programme for Women (CDPW), overseeing logistics, identifying speakers, and setting the agenda for follow-up modular activities
*Work with Partners on any training initiatives as appropriate
General
*Ultimate responsibility for ensuring life cycle and employee processes are carried out to a high, consistent standard for us. Make recommendations for improvements and ensure consistency across offices that meet with local needs and are aligned to Group policy as appropriate
*London annual gender pay gap review
*Lead People Engagement Survey - currently a 12-18 month cycle; oversee survey, communications, analysis and actions
*Member of the UK Group Pension Review - quarterly meetings
*Member of the London I&D Committee
*Provide information and reports to Partners
*Management of HR Advisor
*Ultimate responsibility for ensuring life cycle and employee processes are carried out to a high, consistent standard for the business. Make recommendations for improvements and ensure consistency across offices (with local applicability)
*Work with global People team and local HR representatives in other offices to support driving global best practice and to provide guidance and share any new specific initiatives

Knowledge Skills and Experience
Essential
*Previous substantial experience of having worked in a generalist HR role within a regional/global, multi-office organisation
*Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction and guidance
*Strong legal knowledge and confidence in managing a variety of complex UK employee relations and performance issues, with working knowledge/understanding of approaches across different jurisdictions
*Must possess a breadth of experience across the full range of HR activities and willing to get involved in full range of HR activity from strategy development to 'hands on' HR
*Exceptional interpersonal skills; must have the confidence to respond to any HR question and demonstrable evidence that they can build relationships at all levels of the business. Must be able to be trusted and known to always act with integrity.
*Experience of co-ordinating HR activities across different offices/regions
*Gravitas, able to gain respect and be sought out for their advice promptly upon arrival
*Communication skills - able to communicate clearly, concisely and in an easy to understand manner in both written and verbal form.
*Demonstrable tact, diplomacy and the ability to handle sensitive situations in an appropriate way.
*Takes a practical approach to difficult situations and decision making, exercises good judgement in balancing commercial needs of the business, individual needs and best practice HR
*Teamwork skills - able to add value as both an individual contributor and as an active team member
*Experience of dealing with senior and sometimes challenging individuals
*Team management experience
*Relevant HR qualification
