People Adviser

Do you have experience of working in a fast paced, multi-site and varied HR advisory role? Are you looking to add breadth and depth to your existing experience and knowledge? Would you like to be part of ensuring Bristol Airport continues to be a great place to work? If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you.

You will join our People Team at an exciting point in our journey, providing commercial, pragmatic advice to our managers across all HR disciplines, along with the chance to get involved in some exciting projects, implementing positive change and ensuring Bristol Airport continues to be a great place to work.

Working with personally allocated departments, you will gain a deep understanding of the operational challenges and the chance to create strong, collaborative relationships with both managers and employees, enabling you to make a positive contribution. This truly is a very special role, where you will be able to promote best practice, support learning and development and help build a culture where employees feel valued and engaged. In this role some of your main responsibilities will include:

  • supporting the drive towards a high-performance culture through the provision of consistent, pragmatic and commercially focused advice, guidance and practical support on the full range of employee lifecycle issues
  • supporting investigatory, disciplinary and grievance proceedings - coaching managers, providing technical and contextual advice, providing practical support – to ensure outcomes that are fair, appropriate and commercially focussed
  • championing employee engagement and empowerment, identifying local and central opportunities for improvement, and supporting implementation
  • promoting well-being policies and initiatives that reflect our values and support a healthy and sustainable workforce

About you

We'd like you to be CIPD Level 5 qualified as a minimum (or equivalent) and be able to demonstrate a wide range of generalist HR experience; ideally gained from a busy, operationally focussed organisation. You will need to be enthusiastic and self-motivated with examples of how you have previously made valuable contributions as both an individual contributor and an active team member.

We would like you have proven experience of working within a multi-site, fast paced, responsive, 24/7 operational environment. You will have the ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload, supporting colleagues during peak times whilst also delivering proactive solutions. Strong communication skills are a must.

Understandably given the nature of our business, everyone who is employed at Bristol Airport must undergo a rigorous referencing and vetting process. We will need different information depending on the job we have offered you. For all roles we'll carry out a criminal record check to confirm you do not have any live or unspent convictions (this is called a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or basic disclosure). It's important to know that if you have resided in another country or countries for 6 months or longer, you'll need to get criminal record checks from all the relevant countries to cover the last five years.
