If joining a business in a turnaround situation, as an experienced Head of Talent Development appeals, then read on.

Our City centre client is hiring an experienced Talent/L and D lead to manage a relatively small L and D function and work as part of the organisation's HR leadership team.

For reasons of confidentiality we can't be too specific about our client however we can tell you that they're a private equity backed business who have installed a first-class experienced leadership team and are looking for results; this is not a BAU role!

The essence of your responsibilities will be to lead and implement the strategy for identifying and developing the capabilities required at all levels from entry through to senior manager. Taking a strategic approach to assessing technical, professional and leadership skills gaps will enable the successful candidate to implement creative strategies to address those needs.

There is an organisation wide requirement for individuals to understand the career paths and succession opportunities available to them on an individual level. This is a business in a highly competitive market and establishing a well-deserved reputation for providing some of the best possible career development opportunities will help it recruit, develop and retain the best professional and support talent……and evidently maximise business success.

Key to achievement will be an ability to bring strong leadership and structure to the existing team helping them ensure the basics are in place alongside taking a more strategic and creative approach.

Strong candidates will be resilient, highly commercial L and D leads, who can base themselves in Manchester five days a week. The Group HRD into who this role reports has high expectations of her team and needs a candidate with gravitas and experience to inspire confidence at all levels.

Accountable and resilient, you will be highly self-directed, collaborative and passionate about what you do. You will hold a proven track record as a "doer" as well as a thinker and be strong on both strategy and execution.
What will the role offer in return? An opportunity to see the results of your efforts and make a difference to a people centric business whose employees are key to its success, very quickly.
