Learning and Development Manager

Based: London or Northampton

£35,000 to £ 40,000 per annum (Depending on experience and location)

We’re looking for a passionate and driven L&D Manager to set up and build an L&D function here at MOLA. This is a brand-new role with enormous scope for growth.

Who are we?

MOLA is an experienced and innovative archaeological and built heritage practice, international research organisation, and charity. With more than 300 staff in London, Northampton, Birmingham and Basingstoke, MOLA has been providing independent, professional heritage advice and services for over 40 years.

As a charitable company MOLA aims to create and share new knowledge to the benefit of society and empower people to contribute to this process, through its award-winning research and engagement programmes. It is the only archaeological organisation in the UK to be recognised by Research Councils UK with Independent Research Organisation status, reflecting the value it places on academic research being undertaken by its team of in-house experts, often in collaboration with universities, communities and heritage institutions.

What does the role involve?

We’re looking for an L&D Manager to help create and build our L&D offering at MOLA. You will be our in-house L&D expert and will be expected to set up an L&D function from scratch.

You will lead the design and delivery of a range of learning projects and programmes across the business and will help to ensure our workforce is skilled and equipped for our current and future needs. You will help to create a culture and understanding of L&D across the business, using your strong influencing and communication skills to deliver our L&D agenda.

You will work closely with line managers and department directors to understand staff development needs and will proactively deliver solutions. You will draw on your up-to-date knowledge of L&D theory and best practice gained in a similar L&D role.

The role can be based in either our London or Northampton office. Whichever location you choose, travel will be required between all our offices and sites throughout the UK.

What we offer you?

In addition to a competitive salary, we offer:

  • 22 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) pro rata, rising based on service length
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Life Assurance and Sickness Income Protection Policies
  • Free healthcare cash plan (including dependent children)
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Season ticket interest-free travel loan
