You'll focus on ensuring that resources of suitable skills and calibre are available for tasks and activities as required as well as managing the education, planning, and skills enhancement associated with resources.

About the Role Reporting directly to the Resource Management (RM) Senior Manager, you will support the Business Unit (BU) Market Leaders across our regional offices predominately from our Reading office. This role will include working in conjunction with the team,, in supporting the implementation and delivery of RM Services to ensure operational excellence. You will be responsible for the effective Resourcing of c. 150 FTE’s within the One GM Tax team., Working closely with the Business leadership and RM Function to support the firm strategy around agility and mobility of our people and support the firm’s people agenda e.g. Fair Access to work .

The role is based in Reading & will require regular travel to London and offices within the South East region as well as other regional offices.

Responsibilities This is an exciting time for Resource Management as we build on the professionalism of our people and work closely with the business to develop and implement PwC business and people strategy. PwC's Resource Management (RM) team has been centralised to assist the firm in being more agile and providing the right people on the right projects at the right time.

 

The key responsibilities of this role

  • Ensure that business needs are delivered in an efficient manner at all times by optimising the allocation of work and deployment of staff to maximise profitability in conjunction with personal development plans and individuals’ wellbeing
  • Portfolio management – conducting regular reviews to ensure maximum utilisation and development for each individual.
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of the Business and be proactive in relation to the supply and demand challenges of the Business i.e. busy periods, recurring business, etc
  • Produce accurate and commercially focussed Management Information (MI) for your BU/RM Function identifying trends/ key risks, etc
  • Be prepared to challenge the BU protocols if impacting resourcing i.e. completion of timesheets, accuracy of codes, etc
  • Support the Business in delivering its manpower and resourcing plan by having a deep understanding of the BU growth plans and headcount required to support these.
  • Engage with Industry/Network Relationship Managers (if applicable) to understand their priorities
  • Work with the team to ensure clients’ needs are delivered in an efficient manner at all times. Optimise headcount, manage/oversee joiners, leavers and secondments, support the team in increasing utilisation whilst being aware of the impact on employee engagement.
  • Work with the regional x-LoS resourcing team to make sure best practices are applied and optimisation of the tools and techniques are used
  • Support the Senior Resource Manager/ Team Leader with recruitment interviews and inducting new staff
  • Work in close partnership with other key functions i.e. Finance/ HC/ Business Development, etc
  • Proactively advise and guide People Managers as regards to their role and responsibilities in RM processes to enable a good quality interaction with their staff.
  • Engage and promote the use of key resourcing systems including Talentlink, S&D,, Finder, and the Resource Tracker to enable effective resourcing.
  • Be prepared to engage in RM projects aligned to the resourcing vision
  • Share knowledge / best practise and network with your LOS colleagues and your colleagues across the RM Function
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the firm’s risk management policies and procedures

     
  • What we are looking for;
  • Preferably from an RM background, or interested in resource management and knowledge of the firms strategy on mobility and agility.
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships with both senior and junior staff over different locations.
  • Professional, confident and open minded individual who demonstrates PwC Professional behaviours at all times
  • Commercially and risk minded with good operational business acumen
  • Trusted advisor who provides balanced, pragmatic advice around manpower planning and resource management to the Business
  • Logical thinker with strategic and pragmatic analytical skills with close attention to detail

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast changing environment
  • Strong ability to liaise, influence, challenge effectively and build relationships at all levels

  • Excellent IT skills - MS Office, Manpower Systems
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills
  • Experience of conflict resolution, with the ability to manage complex conflicts between numerous parties
