Oakleaf Partnership are currently working with a leading arts charity who are looking to appoint an Interim Head of HR to join their team. Reporting into the Managing Director you will be responsible for the delivery of an effective operational HR service which meets the needs of Directors and Managers. You will ensure the team is aligned to meeting the People objectives within the new vision and five-year strategy. You will have 6 direct reports and will need to be able to start at short notice.

Main responsibilities

Input to and support major change initiatives such as organisation re-structuring, changes in working practices, etc.

Be responsible for the overall employee relations framework, ensuring effective relationships are maintained with the recognised trade unions and managing the annual negotiations on pay and pay-related conditions of service.

Working with the Resourcing Manager, ensure that the recruitment and selection processes are up-to-date and aligned to attracting and selecting the right people

Manage recruitment processes for senior level posts.

Hold overall accountability for ensuring that the people policies and practices are consistent with employment law

Be responsible for ensuring that the pension scheme arrangements

Ensure that staff are paid in accordance with their terms and conditions of employment, including having overall responsibility for managing the contract with the external payroll bureau.

Ensure that the Human Resources systems and database are fit for purpose and support the delivery of an efficient Human Resources service.

Be responsible for managing the Human Resources Operational budget and the organisational-wide Learning and Development budget.

Ensure that an up-to-date annual operational plan and risk register for the department is maintained.

To be successful for this position you should have demonstrable senior leadership and senior generalist HR experience gained within a large, complex organisation. You should have a broad, extensive HR background including change management, organisational and management development, talent and performance management, reward, and employee relations and learning and development.
