A global Professional Services firm is currently looking to hire an interim Graduate Development Manager for a 14 month Maternity Cover contract. This is a fantastic opportunity where will be responsible for all graduate development activity across the UK's 7 offices. The role holder will report into the Head of Graduate Recruitment & Development for the International firm. The successful candidate will have proven experience of leading graduate development and programme management activity within a global, matrix organisation. Ideally, the successful candidate will also have previous experience of graduate recruitment. The role requires significant UK travel, and offers the role holder the opportunity to work within an international, industry leading graduate recruitment and development team.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Responsibility for all graduates within the UK, supported by the Graduate Programme Manager
  • Stakeholder management: manage relationships with all Office Managing Partners and Office Graduate Partners within the UK's 7 offices from a graduate development perspective
  • Lead the design, organisation and execution of the International Graduate Induction and Continued Learning programme
  • Lead the international and client secondment process for the UK, Hong Kong and Australia offices
  • Design and lead the annual qualification process for the UK offices
  • Manage the firm's relationship with the SRA and the Law Society of Scotland from a graduate perspective. Overall responsibility for ensuring that the firm's training programme meets the regulatory requirements
  • Training Contract regulations: possess a detailed knowledge of all aspects of the training contract regulations for both the SRA and the Law Society of Scotland
  • Performance management: overall responsibility for the implementation of the performance management processes within the UK graduate population. Conduct mid-rotation review meetings with all graduates under direct management
  • Programme management of graduates within allocated offices: programme management at an operational level is split between the Graduate Development Manager, UK and Graduate Programme Manager  Work collaboratively with the Graduate Recruitment Manager, UK to deliver an excellent service to the business
  • Rotation management: responsibility for the seat rotation process for the UK's 7 offices
  • Budget management: responsibility for the creation and management of the UK Graduate Development budget
  • Reward and compensation: lead the salary review for the UK graduate population, working with the internal Reward team
  • Hiring targets: work with the Head of Graduate Recruitment & Development and the firm's Executive to conduct the annual hiring target setting process. Overall responsibility for the preparation of all data necessary to inform decisions
  • Vendor management: lead the firm's relationship with vendors used to deliver all training (including regulatory training)
  • Employee relations: manage all employee relations cases within the UK graduate population, working in partnership with the Employee Relations team where required
  • Lead the annual contractual review process for all contracts used within the UK graduate recruitment and development activity (summer internship, training contract, and newly qualified contracts)
  • Policy reviews: on an annual basis, conduct policy reviews for all policies used within graduate development (for example, the extended leave upon qualification policy


Skills, experience and characteristics:

  • Demonstrable experience of finding commercial solutions that are in line with best practice, the firm's policies and also meet the needs of the business
  • Previous experience of programme management (high volume rotation management)
  • Previous experience of Employee Relations required
  • Significant experience of managing budgets required
  • Excellent data skills
