The successful applicant will lead the Resource Management (RM) relationship aligned to the Tax Line of Service, reporting directly to the UK Head of Resource Management. The Tax RM Team Leader will be responsible for leading, shaping and delivering the firmwide Resourcing strategy by working in partnership with the business and acting as an integral member of the Tax Operations Leadership Team. As a member of the RM Leadership Team (RMLT), the Tax Team Leader will also play a key role in attracting, engaging and developing its people from a Tax Resourcing team, Career Coach and broader functional people leadership role.

With a newly formed Tax Leadership Team coupled with a critical focus on transformation and automation it’s a really exciting time to join the practice and lead the Tax Resourcing function. This role is responsible for leading a national team which means we deploy staff from different sources - Business Units, Specialist Networks and CoEs.

About the role - in this role you’llTax Line of Service

Build credibility and trust with the newly formed Tax Leadership team (following recent restructure). Influence, guide and support the Tax Leadership Team on strategic and commercial resourcing issues and priorities reporting to the People Partner and COO

Contribute to the Tax people strategy and respond to feedback from the business to make the right resourcing decisions for the benefit of the business, clients and our people. Key influencer to the partner and director community to maximise fair work access (a critical area for Tax and LoS wide goal)

Act as single point of contact for escalation of all resourcing conflicts

Act as a proactive and collaborative Tax leadership operations team member (alongside the Operations, HC and Finance teams)

Responsible for proactively initiating, leading and driving forward success of resourcing related firmwide programmes (Digital Accelerator and Business Graduate) as well as LoS specific programmes (One Tax Rotation scheme)

Lead on transforming the way we do things in Tax resourcing to a more automated state to optimise delivery of resourcing solutions to the business (through the RM Transformation programme , implementing job opportunity boards to support transparency of opportunities , demand trackers to measure RM productivity and greater use of visualisation tools) in line with changing business needs

Lead, influence and drive technology system integration (for example greater effective use of TalentLink across the LoS and Juggler implementation feasibility)

Work proactively side by side with the Workforce of the Future (WoTF) pillar leads to lead, influence and contribute to the effective integration of firm wide priorities (eg. Strategic Workforce Planning and Contingent Workforce approach) to ensure the LoS remains agile and future focused

Be adept at strategically prioritising transactional, operational and strategic activity across a breadth and depth of subject matter

Resource Management Leadership Team (RMLT)

Define and agree the standard and quality of service that will be delivered to the business and act as a proactive member of the Resource Management (RM) Leadership Team

Lead, influence and contribute to the resource management transformation agenda (in an agile manner) reporting to the Functional Leader

Share best practice with the Team Leaders to drive the RM strategy

Ability to juggle complex resourcing agenda tensions between the function and LoS

Lead, influence and contribute to broader functional people agenda activity (eg. training, development and objective setting, coaching and performance management) reporting to the Functional Leader

Act as a proactive and confident Career Coach to agreed Senior Manager portfolio (performance, development and well being)

People Leadership (Tax Resourcing team)

Act as an inclusive, collaborative and hands on leader to inspire the Tax resourcing team (at all levels - c. 35 in total) to optimise commercial delivery and operational excellence to the business

Act as a proactive change manager to drive RM transformation. Influence and educate the LoS so they are clear on the business benefits

Lead on all people activity including recruitment, coaching and development, performance management, well being and engagement

What we are looking for - to be successful in this role you will haveProven people centric leadership skills and the ability to differentiate, engage and inspire people at all levels within the organisation. Passion, energy and drive to take Resourcing to the next level with the new leadership team and drive a high performing team

Proven strategic prioritisation skills - ability to manage and juggle a complex breadth and depth of day to activity and projects (short and long term focus)

Strong influencing and decision making skills, honed through extensive experience of managing stakeholders in a complex matrix environment

Significant experience in building and maintaining strong relationships at all levels, with the ability to resolve conflict between numerous parties as well as confidence and gravitas to sit at leadership table

Excellent stakeholder management skills (all levels) and proven ability to flex style and respond to situations or circumstances ‘in the moment’

Highly developed commercial (business acumen) awareness with strong analytical skills that can translate data into action

Experience of leading and delivering high quality Resource Management services, preferably in a professional services (or similar) environment

Clear, comprehensive understanding of the link between Strategy and Resource Management, capable of influencing and contributing to the strategic agenda and operationalising and delivering the strategy. Able to navigate and juggle tensions between function and Line of Service strategy

A confident and proactive approach to lead and drive transformational change (across the Line of Service and function) in an ambiguous environment

Ability to remain calm under pressure, resilient and respond quickly to issues and effectively manage a depth and breadth of competing activities and priorities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
