Resourcing Advisor / HR generalist Southend 6 month contract

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council has an exciting opportunity for a Resourcing Advisor on a temporary basis until March 2020. Southend-on-Sea Borough Council employs around 1,700 staff, who work together to deliver a wide range of services that meet the needs of those who live, work and visit the area. The council provides a range of vital services at the heart of the community, as well as investing in exciting and ambitious projects that keep Southend-on-Sea firmly on the map. The Council is ambitious for the future and is working with local partners and local communities to ensure we deliver our exciting ambition for 2050.

Your New Role

You will provide a dedicated resource on behalf of the Council to strategically lead on Resourcing activities, working with partner organisations. Leading on recruitment, retention and succession planning activity to mainstream best practice, support workforce progression and provide efficiencies and cost control for the Council working with partners You will undertake regular reviews and evaluation of resourcing activities and programmes, using reporting and metrics and maintain awareness and knowledge of latest resourcing practices, approaches and methods, and deploy where appropriate.

Other responsibilities will include the management of an effective social media strategy. Coaching and supporting line managers on all aspect of recruitment. Developing and overseeing an approach to entry level talent/apprenticeships to support a pipeline of future leaders and working with, Deputy Chief Executives, Directors, Heads of Services to identify requirements and negotiate resourcing activities to produce best candidates/talent for the Council.

What You Need to Succeed To be successful
You will have an In-depth knowledge of Employment Law, national legislation and case law in recruitment and an in-depth knowledge of AWR, IR35 and Talent Management
