About the roleThis role is being offered on a 6 month fixed term contract, based in London.

L&D is PwC's internal learning and development (L&D) function. Our ambition is to be a world-class learning function, partnering with the business to deliver L&D which meets the needs of our people and helps deliver the Firm’s strategic priorities.

The L&D Operations team are responsible for managing the day to day activities of L&D and are looking for an individual to join the team as an Operations Manager. The successful candidate will report to the L&D Operations Leader and be coached and managed by a senior Operations Manager.

The individual will support all L&D teams. First line responsibility of all L&D regular finance activity including

  • Support with preparation of annual budgets

  • Monitor and challenge financial performance (budgeting/spend/forecasting/required tasks and activity)

  • Engage with, coach and brief all teams/staff on finance matters including the leadership team

  • Create high performing, mutually productive relationships within L&D and with key stakeholders

  • Manage all function wide finance matters and exercises including forecasting and budgeting.

  • Manage queries and provide support and guidance

  • Approve/reject payment of invoices, expenses, venue costs, purchase orders

  • Involvement in other L&D and team strategic priorities as and when required

  • Assist in the standardisation and simplification of processes and policies in support of a L&D wide consistent approach to operations

  • Implement and maintain regular operations activities, measurement and reporting processes

  • Ability to build and develop strong relationships at all levels and work collaboratively to create value for the firm

  • Ability to develop and interpret financial and other complex data

  • Excellent project management and completer-finisher skills

  • Highly analytical mind-set

  • Highly competent using complex spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets)

  • Goal orientated – maintaining focus on agreed objectives and deliverables

  • Commercially orientated – keeping commercial aspects continually in mind when taking actions or making decisions

  • Proven ability to self-motivate and work independently as well as a track record of working professionally and collaboratively as part of a wider-team

  • Proven ability to manage and prioritise projects and work to deadlines

  • Communicate confidently and effectively at all levels, both in written and verbal form

  • Ability to see the big picture as well as the finer details

  • Positive, can do attitude, particularly when dealing with ambiguity
