Occupational Health Nurse Specialist
Location: Central Bristol
Job Type: Part Time Permanent
Occupational Health Staffing is looking to recruit a qualified Occupational Health Advisor (Degree/Diploma) on a part time permanent basis (4 days a week) for an in-house OH department in Central Bristol. In addition to providing a full range of occupational health services you will also coordinate and lead the service delivered. This will entail networking across the organisation to ensure that their services are fully in tune to their needs.
Main duties and responsibilities
CLINICAL
• To act independently as an Occupational Health Nurse Specialist, advising clients on OH requirements in relation to work.
• To maintain effective communication with clients, managers and other professionals to ensure a seamless service delivery.
• To motivate, supervise and develop junior staff, to ensure competency in all areas of clinical practice and adherence to legislative requirements and the agreed service delivery outcomes.
• To possess the necessary skills to undertake clinical procedures including Venepuncture and vaccinations, and for computer use including use of specialised IT systems.
• Providing Specialist OH advice to managers and employees
• To provide consistently accurate, timely and robust clinical advice and recommendations
• The Running of Nurse Assessment Clinics
• Pre-employment Health Assessments
• Workplace Risk Assessments
• Management of Contaminated Sharps Injuries, Bodily Fluid Exposure and PEP
• Health Surveillance Programmes
• Occupational and Travel Immunisation Programmes
MANAGERIAL
• To demonstrate excellent management skills contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the service.
• To deputise for the Lead Nurse in their absence, and to make contributions to the day to day running of the service.
• To assist with the development of policies, processes and standards
• To develop skills in interviewing and assessing the service needs of potential clients in conjunction with the Operations/Service Manager.
• To undertake managerial responsibilities for junior members of the nursing team
To apply you will be a registered nurse with an OH qualification (Degree / Diploma) with 3 + years OHA experience, experience of policy writing, report writing
