About the Team
This is an exciting time for Resource Management as we build on the professionalism of our people and work closely with the business to develop and implement PwC business and people strategy. PwC's Resource Management (RM) team has been centralised to assist the firm in being more agile and providing the right people on the right projects at the right time. The role we have available, with more details below, is based in our Embankment Place offices.

Portfolio is a business unit that is just over two years old, created on 1st July 2017 within Tax National. It has been developed to act as a business unit for teams who are either new to PwC or are investment areas for Tax and/or the wider firm. This has created a unique and exciting opportunity for a Resource Manager to introduce an offering, centered around fair work access, fair allocation of work and the promotion of technologies and processes. The Resource Manager will provide insight and influence positive behaviours in line with the Firms expectation and people strategy.

A unique resourcing approach is needed for the eleven sub teams across Portfolio but in particular between the two legal teams who resource on a project type basis.

About the roleResponsibilities for the role;

  • Lead, manage and promote the resourcing model across a number of different sub teams.

  • Develop strong relationships both locally and remotely, identifying and using opportune moments to deliver key messages.

  • Support the Leadership team in providing direction around strategic resourcing priorities which include people, recruiting, training, mobility, agility, ways of working, workload balance.

  • Take an interest in the Portfolio vision and the varied client offerings found across the business unit.

  • A trusted advisor to the business and known as the subject matter expert (SME) around resource management.

  • Provide accurate and commercially focused management information (MI) to identify trends and key risks.

  • Challenge the business unit protocols where it may impact resourcing.

  • Understand the financial implications of resource decisions.

  • Be able to work autonomously and in a somewhat ambiguous environment.

  • Support the business effectively to deliver on their revenue target and ensure pipeline opportunities match those with S&D.

  • Meet joiners and provide them direction around TalentLink, S&D, and ways of working.

  • Engage and promote the use of key resourcing systems and work closely with the wider Resource Management community to implement new technologies and best practice.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the firm’s risk management policies and procedures.

  • Ensure staff and managers are deployed on jobs based on skills, capacity and aspirations.

  • Maintain open, honest and ongoing relationships with staff and client group through effective engagement and client management.

  • Work with key stakeholders to enhance and implement ways of working.

  • Provide proactive advice, input on conflict resolution, day-to-day resourcing requests, specials and/or other unanticipated assignments.

  • Be part of the operational leadership team of the business.

  • Who we are looking for;We are looking for a strong resourcer who can come in with the energy to make an impact. The Resource Manager will have the opportunity to make their own mark on the business and tailor the approach to fair work access, the promotion of S&D and the fair allocation of work and consider this in a strategic manner.

    The candidate should be able to work collaboratively and lean on the wider operations team who are widely dispersed. The ability to maintain strong relationships, sometimes on a remote basis is integral to the role.

    Who we are looking forThe following skills are required;

  • Legal skills are not a requirement for this role but an understanding of the legal market would be useful.

  • Strong project management skills and a willingness to get involved with the business.

  • Ability to build strong relationships across all levels and a range of stakeholders.

  • Ability to listen and drive through changes.

  • Comfortable putting forward own ideas.

  • Ability to learn, work out how to integrate and promote the value of RM technologies (GFS Dashboard, S&D)

  • Resilient.

  • Change management and an ability to challenge ways of working

  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively

  • Ability to leverage the support of the wider Resource Management and Operations teams.

  • Promote an active approach in a fast pace environment.

  • Confident in communication both written and verbal.

  • Knowledge of headcount management, including coordinating between temps and contractors, HC/Workday and recruitment

  • A career in Resourcing and Deployment, within Internal Firm Services, will provide you with the opportunity to work in cross line of service staffing helping our network be even more agile in the ever evolving markets we work with, providing the right people on the right projects at the right time. You’ll focus on ensuring that resources of suitable skills and calibre are available for tasks and activities as required as well as managing the education, planning, and skills enhancement associated with resources.
