Toxicology and Occupational Hygiene Specialist
Location: Castle Bromwich, Birmingham
Job Type: Full Time Permanent
Occupational Health Staffing are looking to recruit a Toxicology and Occupational Hygiene Specialist on a full time permanent basis to work as part of the Occupational Hygiene and Toxicology Department of a high profile company in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham.
This role will contribute to the review, development, implementation and monitoring of the Occupational Hygiene and Toxicology management systems, process and policies to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and associated regulations.
Key Performance Indicators
• Carry out occupational hygiene assessments as received through support request system
• Carry out chemical safety reviews
• Assist internal customers with achieving corporate objectives
• Conducting audits and inspections as required with report write up and follow up action as per agreed requirements
• Good understanding of the principles of toxicology and regulatory compliance
• Understanding of global and European chemical regulations with emphasis on REACH and CLP
• Understand hazard characterisation and chemical risk assessment
• Understand hierarchy of control measures and the principles of good hygiene control as per COSHH regulations
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• Support and Contribute to the development of all aspects of Health and Safety Policies
• Contribute to the monitoring, evaluation and review of existing, new and upcoming Health and Safety legislation
• Work with cross functional teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives in the management of Occupational Hygiene and Toxicology as directed
• Work on the risk assessment and preventive systems in place to enable the operational business to undertake risk assessment processes
• Liaise with Occupational Health on health surveillance where a risk assessment has identified a need
• Provide staff comprehensive information on Health and Safety systems and procedures, including advising on equipment purchase and workplace practices
• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures that impact on the delivery of effective Occupational Hygiene and Toxicology systems, including Data Protection
• Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested
