Your new company
Hays HR are recruiting a HR Manager for our client who are based in Cardiff. This is a newly created post due to a huge period of growth. As HR Manager you will identify, develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned to the overall business strategy, to include benefit packages, reward strategies, career development/pathways, employee branding, learning and development as required to support business growth. You will report into the CEO, liaise and consult with the Board /Partners as well as staff groups who may be affected by proposed strategies. A very key member of the Management team, you will sit on the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for driving the business forward.

  • Design, fully cost and implement a benefits package appropriate for the size of firm
  • Review talent management with a view to achieving better recruitment and retention
  • Design and implement learning and career progression pathways
  • Review the companies sickness process ensuring that is appropriate (firm by fair and allowing for compassion) and that it is applied consistently across the firm.
  • Ensure the people policies are up to date and fit for purpose and implement changes where necessary
  • Up skill managers and team leaders in the firm to be able to manage teams effectively (including application of the firm's disciplinary process where appropriate).
  • Identifying Business Development opportunities and leveraging existing network to support the growth of their Employment and HR package advice line services in the East regions (Swansea and East)
  • Engaging in their Business Development activities in the East and West of Wales, including training sessions, seminars and events by attending networking events, client meetings etc
  • Day to day support of Employment Team's Legal Advisor based in the Cardiff Office
  • Facilitate the growth of the Cardiff based employment team in partnership with the Head of the Employment team.
  • Proactively line manage and develop the firm's HR Executive (ensuring HR Executive is the credible succession plan)
  • Take responsibility for the firmwide recruitment strategy, delegating tasks as appropriate to the HRE.
  • Lead on HR matters in "East" region (e.g. recruitment, disciplinary matters etc) and provide appropriate support to the HRE in the West.
  • Confidently provide sound employment advice to internal clients with minimum referral to the Employment team
  • Manage complex employee relation issues such as more complex disciplinary and grievances, absence management, reorganisations and redundancies
  • Work closely with departments to assist line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures themselves as necessary with adequate HR support.



What you'll need to succeed

  • CIPD Level 7 in HR Management (or equivalent HR or business management degree and experience)
  • People orientated and results driven
  • Exceptional knowledge of HR systems and databases
  • Excellent active listening and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships at all levels of the business
