Main Purpose:

To provide HR support to the HR Business Partners and to the UK and overseas business areas in advising and managing employment matters and taking the lead on dedicated HR and talent and development topics as required. Also supporting, advising and enabling managers to deal effectively with people initiatives across all locations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the HR Business Partners for the UK and overseas business areas on all employee lifecycle areas ensuring that actions remain aligned with the people strategy for each area
  • Engage with managers to advise on and support the full lifecycle of people management, with a view to up skilling managers to undertake their roles more effectively.
  • Take the lead on ER matters as allocated by the HRBPs, making clear and commercially sound decisions in areas such as flexible working, Occupational health referrals, sickness absence and attendance management, maternity, performance issues, and grievance /disciplinary case management, seeking guidance as necessary.
  • Liaising with relevant internal and external experts to ensure sound advice and consultation is provided on complex ER matters
  • Support change management initiatives (new systems, initiatives and approaches) from preparation through to launch including consultation where necessary, including researching, designing, presenting on people related projects as required
  • Meet with stakeholders to run focus groups, obtain feedback on proposed approaches and adapt accordingly to deliver a commercial solution
  • Participate in project work when required by the business and/or the department.
  • Support the HR team with cyclical processes (e.g. continual Performance Management, annual compensation reviews, training needs analysis, talent reviews etc.) as required
  • Provide support and/or manage HR processes such as; the new joiner welcome breakfast and oversee the on-boarding and induction process; and, the employee engagement survey, working with the business partners to create and implement action plans based on the results
  • Undertake any other duties which are considered reasonable within the broader remit of the role.
  • Keep abreast of international employment legislation including people policies in international offices
  • Keep abreast of latest thinking and initiatives covering the full HR spectrum, proactively posing ideas and thoughts to drive continuous development and improvement of our offerings
  • Ensure processes and policies are applicable to international ways of working and local regulations with the aim of creating and maintain a high performance culture.
  • Interface with HR Operations as required ensuring a seamless transition from "front office" to "back office"
  • Participation to ensure the people practices of Canopius are observed and completed to a satisfactory standard whilst support the creation and development of a high performance culture
  • Develop cohesive working relationships throughout the business

Skills and Experience:

  • Exposure to terminations, absence management, discipline and grievance handling, change management, downsizing and a range of complex employee relations issues
  • Recruitment/interview experience of mid-range positions
  • Ability to lead and manage small projects
  • Experience of change management

Qualifications

  • Graduate with minimum of 2:1 degree level or equivalent
  • CIPD qualified
