Job Details

Acting as a business partner for designated client areas within the University, actively progressing and promoting the delivery of Aston strategy and associated HR Strategies across the University.  The HR Business Partners are responsible for provision of a consistently high quality and customer focussed HR service to managers and staff in line with our vision and values.  The post presents an exciting opportunity to develop a strong understanding of the business, becoming an important part of the planning and decision-making for a designated area.

This is a generalist human resources business partnering role, encompassing recruitment, casework, job evaluation, dispute resolution, advisory and planning work.  You will also have the opportunity, as part of the wider professional HR team, to develop policy, procedures and good practice.  The post holder will work collaboratively with other HR Business Partners to share good practice and smooth peaks in workload.

We are looking for HR professionals with significant experience of recruitment and casework, a graduate who is CIPD qualified or equivalent. You should have the confidence, credibility and experience to influence senior members of the University's Executive as well as coaching managers in handling sensitive issues. The ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders is a key part of the role.  The ability to analyse and exploit HR information systems to obtain valid data and to use this to recommend appropriate actions is essential.  The role is demanding and very varied and the post holder will need to be able to prioritise and work under pressure.  Knowledge and experience of HR in a unionised environment is essential and experience of HR within education or the public sector would be advantageous.  Strong team-working skills are a pre-requisite.

Aston University is committed to the principles of the Athena SWAN Charter http://www.ecu.ac.uk/equality-charter-marks/athena-swan/, recognised by a silver award. We pride ourselves on our vibrant, friendly, supportive working environment and collaborative atmosphere.

As users of the disability confident scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy.
