HR Director

Would you like a newly created role, leading HR for an organisation whose employees are genuinely passionate about their products and services?

For reasons of confidentiality we can't tell you a great deal about our client in this advert, however, we can tell you that they're a well-loved British retail brand. Following recent P/E investment, they have a hugely positive outlook. They are recognised as being sector leaders for product knowledge and customer service and are investing in new sites, logistics, infrastructure and shop refurbishments.

They're a people-centric organisation employing some of the brightest and best and are passionate about educating and delighting their customers. Having bucked recent high street trends, they have enjoyed consistent growth of late, and it's now time to take the business to the next level from an HR perspective.

Reporting into the CEO, they are looking to appoint an experienced individual into the newly created HR Director position to play a crucial role as part of the senior management team. The successful candidate will provide strategic HR leadership to facilitate the business strategy and objectives, which are to consolidate recent growth and ensure the business is well-positioned for the next stage of its development.

Critical areas of focus will include partnering the senior management team to drive strategy, developing a first-class approach to attraction, recruitment, talent development, engagement and reward that acutely reflects the dynamics of this challenging market.

Experience of working with a field-based retail organisation is essential, and we're looking for a commercially focused and technically strong HR professional, someone with the knowledge, intellect and entrepreneurial flair to drive the business forward. To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate you can lead HR in a people-centric retail business, at pace and "roll up your sleeves".

With almost 300 branches across the UK and a small but growing number in Europe, being "out and about" is essential. The senior management team make a point of getting together at their London HQ, at the front end of the working week as a minimum, so you'll need to be comfortable with weekly travel to London.

What will the business offer you in return? Quite simply, the opportunity to be the HR Director and key leadership team member of an up and coming sector leader. The chance to be part of a well-loved UK business genuinely valued by its customers.
