HR People Development Partner

Kent Police College (Maidstone), North Kent Police Station (Ebbsfleet) & Essex Police Headquarters (Chelmsford)

£39,669 to £46,809

Full Time

Fixed Term

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic individual to undertake the role of Talent and People Development Partner for Kent and Essex Police.

This opportunity, to cover a period of maternity leave, offers a unique opportunity to help develop and maximise the potential of the talent management and people development strategies for both Forces. The varied and challenging portfolio oversees the successful delivery of a range of development initiatives and workstreams of strategic importance. In this role you will be responsible for the design, co-ordination and ongoing successful delivery of all talent and people development provisions.

The Talent and People Development team work to maximise the potential of all of our officers and staff, now and in the future, whilst also creating innovative initiatives to enhance the workforce diversity and attract and develop ‘high potential’ talent. If successful you will report to the Talent and People Development Manager and will direct, lead and support a small team, whilst networking with a wide range of leaders across the force and stakeholders within the College of Policing and other professional bodies.

You will be a Chartered Member of the CIPD, or will hold an equivalent qualification or relevant experience at management level, preferably in a similar Talent Management or Learning and Development environment. Your proven creativity and innovation to develop new practices and policies, in the people development or talent arena, will also be essential to this role.

Previous experience of providing HR consultancy to senior stakeholders in the aforementioned fields is essential as this post will support and influence senior leaders and stakeholders on the team’s agenda.

In addition you will need to be highly motivated and demonstrate personal resilience, and be confident at working independently to effectively lead a team under pressure to tight deadlines. Proven organisational skills and ability to effectively prioritise and manage multiple workstreams is also critical to this role. You will have excellent verbal (presentational) and written communications skills demonstrated by previous evidence of working with a range of senior stakeholders effectively. Project management skills would be a distinct advantage.

This opportunity is based across Kent (Maidstone and North Kent) and Essex (Chelmsford) and will require the successful candidate to spend time in each Force and across all three bases as part of a collaborative arrangement. As the department is responsive to needs of stakeholders and candidates some occasional weekend or evening working may be required.

Please note applications will be shortlisted against the criteria outlined above. Candidates applying to this position must be available for immediate release. Please note, we reserve the right to close or extend this position depending on application numbers and the suitability of candidates. Therefore, we would advise you to submit an application as soon as possible.

Closing date: 8 October 2020.
