Join the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and you’ll help Great Britain work well. Our own work could hardly be more important: we’re here to protect lives and livelihoods and help employers innovate, be productive and grow. With the fascinating challenge of Brexit combining with our establishment of a new Building Safety Regulator, this is a pivotal time to become part of our mission. We’re now looking for a HR Business Partner.

The role

As the face of HR for the business, you will work alongside senior leaders, using your influencing skills to plan, prioritise and progress HR and Workforce strategies aligned to the organisation’s strategic plan. We’ll look to you to:

• Work with organisational leaders to establish current and future people numbers, skills/ behaviour requirements (including leadership capability) and the organisational structure required to meet business needs

• Develop strong working relationships with senior leaders in your area, across the HR Division and the Civil Service to ensure you utilise the right HR practices and systems to increase efficiency and effectiveness

• Support and advise senior managers to ensure people issues and risks are identified and considered in all aspects of their work, and particularly in supporting change

• Provide business insight to shape HR strategies, priorities and continuous improvement

• Use business data and insight to inform the design, development and implementation of HR interventions.

Your background

We’re looking for impressive experience as a HR Practitioner, plus:

• The confidence and resilience to engage and challenge at senior levels to ensure that HSE can be a great place to work

• The foresight to anticipate possible risks, outcomes and impacts of decisions or interventions

• The credibility to build and maintain a network of colleagues and contacts to achieve progress on objectives

• The ability to interpret and implement best HR practice, policy and strategy – using sound judgement and knowledge to deliver the most effective advice to support business outcomes.

Rewards

In return, you can look forward to a civil service pension, flexible working, challenging and high profile work, investment in your personal development, and the opportunity to develop your career across the wider civil service HR department.

We’re committed to providing a supportive and inclusive working environment and particularly welcome Female/BAME/disabled/LGBT+ applicants, currently underrepresented in this discipline within HSE.
