Permanent Senior HR and Recruitment Officer - Epsom - Education Sector
Duties and responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for the following duties:
- Overseeing and delivery of the recruitment process
- Managing the recruitment and authorising recruitment advertising and the use of agencies
- Drawing up job descriptions for recruitment purposes
- Ensuring all safer pre-employment / recruitment checks are carried out accurately
- Entries and updates to the Statutory Single Central Register
- Issuing /checking employment contracts and all recruitment paperwork
- Supporting managers with the induction process for their new staff
- Dealing with changes to terms and conditions of employment/employment documentation
- Ensuring compliance with current ISI / DfE regulations and all relevant aspects of employment law
- Carrying out and ensuring effective HR administration systems and processes
- Helping to maintain the HR and school databases and both paper and electronic personnel files,
- Dealing with general HR and employee queries and related correspondence
- In conjunction with the Director of HR, providing managers with advice and support on the full range of HR matters, particularly sensitive matters such as absence, performance management and discipline issues
- Preparing payroll instructions and liaison with the Accounts/Payroll Department for the monthly payroll process
- Attend relevant training and ensuring updating of continuous professional development.
- Deputise for, and undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed by, the Director of HR, Bursar or Head
Profile
Skills, abilities, experience and qualifications
Essential
- Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development qualified at least to Chartered ACIPD with a current strong working knowledge of operational HR
- Significant HR Generalist experience with a strong background in recruitment
- Up-to-date knowledge of employment law and employee relations issues
- General understanding of HR databases and the payroll function
- Recent experience in supporting and advising middle managers and staff on employment issues, interpreting and implementing HR policies, conditions of service and relevant legislation
- Ability to build strong working relationships and rapport at all levels through outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent professional written communication skills, including a high standard of written English
- Excellent IT skills with the ability to use a range of computer offer packages
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to balance priorities and take responsibility for the completion of a task.
- Highly organised, accurate and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage sensitive issues and use discretion with the utmost of confidentiality at all times.
- Willingness to take part in additional training when the acquisition of new skills and knowledge is required.
Desirable
- Experience of working within a school or other safeguarding regulations environment is highly desirable;
- Knowledge of the ISAMS or school specific databases;
- Knowledge of Safer Recruitment processes and ISI or Ofsted or other regulatory compliance bodies;
- Chartered member of the CIPD
