Your new role

We are looking for an experienced HR Consultant to join the HR and Payroll services on a full time and permanent basis. The post of HR Consultant (Pay & Reward) is a new post within the newly formed Pay & Reward team within HR Services. As a HR Consultant working in this team your Specialist Key Responsibilities will include:-

  • Contributing to the work of the Pay & Reward Team to support the development and effective working of this function to our customers.
  • Taking the lead supporting role in either the Pay and/or Benefits area.
  • Taking a lead supporting role with the Council's job design and job evaluation processes, providing expert advice to HR colleagues and customers and undertaking job evaluations.
  • Undertaking research and analysis to provide insight and inform the reward, pay & benefits strategy.
  • Contributing to the work of the wider HR Services team on specific projects as needed.

You will be required to undertake any other duties as may be required which are appropriate for grades of post, up to and including the grade of this post Full job description is available upon request. What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, In-depth knowledge of employment law as determined by EU legislation, national legislation and case law is required. You should have in depth working knowledge of employment law and relevant work practices, policies, and procedures, ideally in the Pay and Reward area including job evaluation and job design. However, a generalist HR background will also be considered. Knowledge of local government policies, procedures, and conditions of service would be beneficial. You should also be working towards or have completed year 3 (electives) CIPD or equivalent in-depth knowledge and experience within an HR environment. You will need to demonstrate and work to the Council's Values and Behaviours.
