HR Advisor (Policy Development)

£31,346 - £36,922 p.a

We have a new opportunity for a creative HR Advisor to join our dedicated Policy Development team, at a unique time when we will be undertaking a fundamental review of our people related policies to support our new ways of working.

In this role you will support, as well as lead on, specific policy development and policy reviews. Working closely with stakeholders and trade unions, you will ensure our policies, guidelines and toolkits are legally compliant and reflect best practice approaches whilst aligned to support our changing needs.

You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of clear policy advice, written communications and briefings so that policy delivery is embedded across the Council. Working as part of a small team, it is expected that you will also get involved in key initiatives and work collaboratively across the wider HR Advisory team to ensure a high quality business focused service is delivered to all customers.

CIPD qualified or equivalent, you will be an experienced and highly motivated HR professional who is able to work on their own initiative and can demonstrate experience of policy development.

Having successfully worked as a HR advisor within a complex organisation across multi-disciplinary teams this will stand you in good stead to make a valuable contribution to our challenging agenda.

A good working knowledge of employment law and HR best practice are essential, along with the ability to quickly engage and develop strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

One of our key projects will be reviewing our contract of employment templates so experience of being involved in similar reviews would also be desirable.

In return, we offer you:

  • A competitive salary.
  • A range of flexible and agile working options.
  • Generous leave entitlement (which rises with continuous service) including the potential for flexi leave up to 24 days per year. The opportunity to buy up to 10 additional days’ annual leave per year.
  • Family and Carer friendly policies.
  • Attractive staff discounts and benefits.
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme – a 24 hour independent, free and confidential advice and support service.
  • Local Government Pension Scheme.
