YMCA Heart of England

Director of People and Culture

Hours: 35 per week

Location: Aston, Birmingham

Salary: £53,398

YMCA Heart of England is a dynamic, values-driven Christian charity that is committed to making our inclusive Christian ethos real in the life and work of the association. We’re seeking to recruit an emotionally intelligent leader of people, who wants to put their faith into action by creating a workplace in which people of all faiths and none can truly flourish

We have 140 employees working across multiple sites in Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry and Warwickshire, who are all committed to delivering our mission, to inspire young people to discover their potential so that they can live life in all its fullness.  We provide accommodation for more than 340 young people, many of whom have experienced homelessness, and support them to get their lives back on track.  We also run two children’s nurseries and deliver youth work in areas of high need, manage two community centres with conferencing facilities and deliver a range of business to business training, all of which create employment opportunities and deliver income for our charitable work.

We’re looking for a skilled and experienced senior manager with a strong track record in HR, organisational development and culture, and leaning and development. You will be comfortable shaping our people strategy as part of the Executive Leadership Team and reporting on your performance to our board of trustees. But most of all, you’ll be passionate about making YMCA Heart of England a truly great place to work.

If you have the right skills and experience for the role, if you share our values, and if you want to contribute to our mission, we’d love to hear from you.

To find out more about us and to apply, visit https://ymcaheartofengland.org.uk/work-for-us/ and download a recruitment pack.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 9.00am on Wednesday 24 February 2021.  Successful applicants will be invited to interview on Thursday 4 March 2021.

As an organisation fully committed to the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, a thorough vetting process is carried out as part of the appointment process, including verification of any required qualifications, verification of identity, taking of references and a DBS check as appropriate

In accordance with schedule 9 of the Equalities Act 2010, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the post holder to be a practising Christian. Details of this are set out in the association’s ethos statement, which is included in the recruitment pack.
