Currently recruiting an Interim Senior HR Business Partner for a 12 month FTC, based in Edinburgh for a Not for Profit.

Description

▪ Lead, co-ordinate and support delivery and achievement of long term People initiatives and HR strategy encompassing Workforce and Resource Planning, Recruitment and Retention, Employee Relations and Engagement, Performance Management, Talent Management and Policy Development

▪ Act as a key member of the People Directorate's management team working closely with the Director for People, VDM Manager and the Head of Learning and Development to ensure the 'People' themes of the organisation's plan are delivered and the benefits realised

▪ Lead research, evaluation and ongoing development of options appraisals in relation to employee Terms and Conditions to ensure the needs of the organisation are being well met

▪ Lead on the development, delivery and evaluation of an employee wellbeing strategy and services to promote becoming an 'employer of choice'

▪ Ensure an effective succession plan and talent development strategy for the HR function

▪ Directly responsible for the line management of two HR Business Partners, HR Advisor and HR Team Lead, indirectly responsible for another 5 HR posts

▪ Ensure that creative and appropriate HR led solutions are supported and delivered consistently across organisation

▪ Influence SLT Directors and act as an advocate of change and progression in people management practice

▪ Supporting the People Director with the the HR strategy to identify and implement workforce modernisation including new ways of working, role redesign, improved performance measurement systems, new HR models and tools ( e.g. surveys) to improve delivery of the organisations services and enable organisational and cultural change

▪ Influence the design and provision of accurate and timely workforce data and support/advise SLT Directors and managers in interpreting and analysing complex data sets relating to the business to enable effective planning, decision making and improved performance

▪ Actively lead and promote partnership working with employees and trade unions putting in place robust processes to support consultation and manage employee relations and change issues effectively

▪ Coaching managers to develop skills and competencies for effective people management necessary for them to fulfil their roles

▪ Work closely with the Head of Learning and Development to design, deliver and evaluate relevant development programmes, HR master classes and other people management interventions

▪ Lead and deliver a pro-active and professional employee relations service providing analysis, advice and support to SLT, managers and employees on complex employee relations cases, effective case management and undertaking/overseeing investigatory meetings, hearings and appeals (e.g. disciplinary/ grievance/ absence) as required

▪ Project manage key HR initiatives, projects and change programmes, preparing proposal/costs, facilitating employee involvement and identifying/managing risk

▪ By championing best HR practice, influence key business decisions to ensure effective management of employees including training of managers in HR policy and practice and the evaluation and development of best practice to embrace diversity in the workforce

▪ Research benchmarking development, implementation and evaluation of HR policy and practice across the organisation to ensure compliance with current employment legislation and best practice, including General Data Protection Requirements and Protection of Vulnerable Groups and future proofing of HR issues

▪ Support the People Director develop effective, fair and legally compliant job evaluation and pay structure systems and approaches

▪ Analyse, draft and present papers and reports to People team and SLT, providing options, recommendation and reporting on key performance indicators

▪ In conjunction with Finance, support the effective administration and management of the payroll and pension schemes

▪ Work with the People Director to ensure the effective procurement, management, negotiation and evaluation of HR related third party contracts (e.g. Employee Assistance programme, Legal Support Services and Occupational Health) to achieve maximum benefit and ensure best prices are always achieved

Profile

Education, Qualifications and Training

▪ Educated to Masters degree level/equivalent experience in and HR/People function

▪ Extensive evidence of a high level of specialist and working theoretical knowledge of employment law and HR policy, process and methodologies

▪ CIPD qualified

▪ Qualification in Coaching or Mediation or equivalent experience

▪ Evidence of additional relevant professional management or leadership CPD / qualification

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge

▪ Strong and effective motivating, engagement and negotiation skills with evidence of effectively advising and influencing Directors and managers on HR matters, including creative solutions to complex employee relations issues

▪ Highly effective team working skills with proven experience in collaborating with others and developing strong and effective working relationships with managers, employee and volunteers

▪ Strong communication skills and role modelling to represent the interests of internally and with external stakeholders

▪ Evidence of developing and delivering HR strategies and policy development

▪ Highly effective written, oral and presentation of skills

▪ Vision and understanding of expanding scope of the fields of HR

▪ IT literate with good understanding of using IT systems to achieve objectives

▪ Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, at times out with normal office hours

▪ Commitment to personal and professional development

▪ Excellence and integrity in HR practice

▪ Commitment to continue professional development of self and others
