Are you an outstanding people leader with an impressive track record in recruitment, including successfully launching and leading a highly effective talent acquisition function? Are you hungry for a brand new challenge that will see you transform and shape the future talent strategy of one the UK’s leading charities? At the start of an exciting new era, here’s a chance to join Shelter in this amazing new role as Head of Talent Acquisition.

About the role

This is one of those rare opportunities to be a real game-changer. You’ll thrive not only on your own success, but on the success of others, as you build a high performing team that will attract, engage and inspire the diverse talent we need to succeed in the future. We’ll rely on you and your new team to make sure the best hiring processes are in place so that we can deliver an exceptional candidate experience each and every time. You’ll work closely with hiring managers to establish their needs and liaise with marketing and brand colleagues to ensure we produce and present employer brand messages that attract a diverse range of great people. Put simply, you’ll bring the sort of innovation and inspiration to the hiring process that will drive and deliver our ambitious growth plans of the future.

About you

You’re a positive, proactive and accomplished people person with enviable experience of building a high-performance recruitment/talent acquisition team and driving a direct sourcing model capable of recruiting talent at all levels. You’re also great at managing relationships and innovative when it comes to implementing a range of creative recruitment strategies and programmes. Leading on a broad range of talent acquisition initiatives such as workforce planning, pipelining and championing diversity, you’ll use your in-depth knowledge of attraction techniques and the modern, multi-media landscape to source and retain the future talent we need.

A strong opinion on the way things should be done is important too. The ability to empower others to deliver the absolute best customer experience through high quality, well documented processes and engagement is essential, including briefing, solutions, communication and reporting. Data driven, analytical and process focused, you’re a critical thinker who’s comfortable working with a degree of ambiguity and great at solving even the trickiest of hiring problems. Crucially, you’re a stickler for high standards for the candidate experience, unafraid of change, have strong commercial acumen, a "can do" attitude and love not only to learn, but to inspire and motivate others too.

About Shelter
A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change, with individuals, in communities, across society, and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

At Shelter we are united by our purpose to defend the right to a safe home. Our enemy is the social injustice at the core of the escalating housing emergency. We believe that to win that fight, we must be representative of the people we are here to help and those who support our movement for change. In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, fair, equitable and transparent.

We have committed to combat racism both within and outside Shelter and welcome you on our journey to becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.

Benefits
We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
