You will support the Head of Employee and Industrial Relations to operate within the Industrial Relations Strategy independently across all sectors and act as a resolution specialist to resolve difficult and complex grievance, appeals and whistle-blowing cases.

Description

As ER/IR Specialist you will be:

  • Managing individual and collective relationships internally and externally including those within union partners at a regional and national level;
  • Building strong, credible relationships across the business to fulfil the role of "resolution specialist";
  • Analysing and interpreting data, information and performance metrics to inform decision making and future business focused solutions, activity and strategy;
  • Ensuring there are common tools and approach to policies, procedures and dispute resolution;
  • Logs, tracks, and processes appeals and grievances which have been escalated;
  • Carries out research in order to evaluate, respond to, and close appeals. Builds case files for each grievance and ensures compliance with organisational and regulatory guidelines;
  • Understanding and assessing the business impact of current and future employment legislation and developing the ER framework and Company policies accordingly. Sign posting new case law and legislation to the People community to ensure key learnings are taken;
  • Support the design and delivery of a tactical programmed of training and communication events throughout the year to develop HR and line management capability and resilience in the area of dispute resolution;
  • Working with People leadership team and our lawyers to where appropriate completing postmortem of events, interpret findings to ensure that our managers learn tribunal cases.

Profile

Skills and Experience:

* In depth generalist HR experience, covering all elements of People Management - at least 2 years + dispute resolution experience
* Experience in a unionised environment is essential
* Mediation trained would be preferable
* Ideally CIPD qualified
* A track record of success gained in a fast-paced, cost-conscious and customer focused business environment(s) & different business sectors / parts of the business
* Experience of and credibility to interface at senior management level
* Excellent relationship and rapport building skills with internal and external contacts at any level
* Financially aware, commercial, numerate and able to identify and enable key levers for business success
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical HR information clearly and concisely

Job Offer

Salary up to £60,000 + £6000k car allowance
