Fixed term or secondment opportunity

This is an exciting time to join the Human Resources and Organisational Development team in the Greater London Authority, as we move into a new Mayoral and Assembly term and prepare to relocate City Hall to the Royal Docks in Newham.  As a senior member of the HR team, reporting directly to the HR Director, you will have the opportunity to use the full breadth of your operational and strategic HR expertise to support the Greater London Authority’s aim to be an exemplary employer in London.

You will be responsible for delivering a range of strategic and operational HR services, building successful relationships with senior managers and providing customer focused HR advice, coaching and solutions that support them in the management of workforce issues and major change programmes.   The role will encompass leadership of the HR Policy portfolio and experience of creating progressive policies that support a modern workforce would be an advantage.

You will ideally be a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and you will demonstrate significant relevant senior level experience. Your track record will include the provision of employee relations advice within a complex organisation, experience of managing organisational change programmes, contributing to policy development and a proven ability to win the trust and confidence of senior leaders.  You will be experienced in leading a team to deliver high quality work in a fast paced environment.

This role is 12 months fixed term to cover maternity leave and we are open to receiving applications from candidates who may wish to join the GLA on secondment.  Remote working is available as part of this role but there will be an expectation to attend an office 2-3 days once government restrictions allow.

Further information about the relocation of City Hall can be found here: https://www.london.gov.uk/press-releases/mayoral/mayor-confirms-relocation-of-city-hall

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.

If you have a question about the role or the recruitment process, then please contact a member of the recruitment team via email on glajobs@london.gov.uk quoting reference GLA3118.

Application closing date: Sunday 23 May 2021 at 23:59 GMT.
