A lovely role for an HR Generalist HR Advisor to support a growing not for profit organisation in West Dorset


Were seeking an experienced level 5 CIPD qualified HR Advisor to join a busy and friendly proactive HR team. You will be working on site in Dorchester, West Dorset.

The HR Advisor will deliver a comprehensive HR and Advice service supporting managers and employees within the West Dorset business unit. You will be embedded in a specific business area to coach and enable line managers to support people and with the ambitious plans for growth.
Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate sensitivity to confidential and personal issues or concerns, supporting the well-being of employees and managers throughout.
  • Providing support to Managers on HR best practice, employment law and people management issues.
  • Own the relationship between the business area you support and the HR department
  • Manage the employee lifecycle for the colleagues in the business area that you support
  • Provide customer focused comprehensive HR Advice & support
  • Support and coach managers to carry out performance management, resourcing, on-boarding and other HR processes.
  • Advise the Director of HR if there are particular areas where line managers would benefit from some more generic management training.
  • Contribute to learning and development by writing and presenting information briefings on a range of HR related topics - processes, guides, manager's user manuals etc.
  • Support line managers with disciplinary, grievance, performance, capability and absence management procedures
  • Manage the HR Inbox and act as the first point of contact for all employee queries, providing procedural guidance and advice as required.
  • Provide managers with the toolkit to effectively overcome minor ER matters and ensure that they are being utilised appropriately, taking remedial action if they are not, ultimately reducing traffic to HR
  • Demonstrate a good overall commercial understanding of the charity but more specifically the area of the business that you support so that you can anticipate changes that will need to be implemented e.g. organisational design, team design and you can advise on possible ways of managing the change, timeframes, employment law etc.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
GCSE Maths and English / CIPD Level 5 Preferred
Skills
  • Ability to solve problems independently
  • Communication; ability to communicate in writing, by letter and orally to a sophisticated level
  • Customer service skills - ability to focus on the needs of the client and use that to deliver appropriate advice
  • Previous experience of working within a busy HR Department
  • The ability to build strong relationships with colleagues at all levels across various sites and departments
  • Excellent IT skills and experience of analysing and presenting HR data.
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritise and organise work effectively in a busy environment.
  • Ability to act with diplomacy in sensitive situations.

Hours of work Usual working hours will be between 8:40am - 17:00pm, Monday to Friday.
