Newly created Global Head of People position working for a luxury retail brand - this is a fantastic opportunity to develop the HR function within a high growth, fast paced organisation.

Description

The Head of People will create the strategic people agenda to ensure that the business meets and exceeds its business objectives.

This is a newly created role encompassing a wide variety of HR/People activities, it's a hands-on role, getting involved in everything from the management of the day-to-day HR operations, embedding company values and driving change and engagement to the delivery of strategic objectives.

You will be required to take a flexible approach and will be required to develop (along with the Finance Director and existing HR Assistant) much of the HR infrastructure, so should be comfortable doing this autonomously and using your own initiative. You will need to have the ability to determine and implement new processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the HR department consistently and with professionalism - working with the senior management team, external stakeholders and workforce with confidence and skill
  • Translate key data into an effective and commercially focused HR and people strategy, working with senior management and influencing them on the best course of action
  • Advise managers on the terms and conditions of employment and share best practice with them
  • Develop and continuously monitor HR policies including the company handbook and codes of conduct such as inclusion, diversity and equal pay
  • Provide first line advice on current and existing benefits for employees and managers
  • Give counsel and oversee complex employee relations issues such as grievance and disciplinary cases
  • Establish departmental accountabilities for the range of HR functions from talent acquisition to health and safety compliance
  • Devise recruitment strategy and oversee its implementation
  • Create and execute a learning and development strategy to include in-house training and knowledge sharing, along with external programmes
  • Update and review HR policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Champion a performance culture
  • Control the HR budget and report on current and future staffing costs and initiatives
  • Lead on special projects and communicate and direct on strategy and implementation
  • Champion change initiatives getting buy-in from senior management team
  • Ensure legal compliance is met in all HR activities
  • Challenge the management team where appropriate and suggest alternative paths

Profile

To be successful, we are looking for the following experience:

  • Bachelor's degree as a minimum, ideally in business administration, human resources management, industrial relations or law
  • CIPD qualified with evidence of continuous professional development
  • Experience of working within a high growth, fast paced SME environment
  • Ability to establish credibility and influence at all levels
  • Able to problem solve and demonstrate operational and strategic skills
  • Comfortable in developing team members and empowering staff
  • Demonstrates commercial acumen - partners with the business to deliver commercially focused people strategies
  • Confident working with data to drive insights and inform decision making
  • Solid employment law knowledge and proven experience of applying updated legislation to a variety of HR situations
  • Managed redundancy/restructure situations; experienced in coaching managers through this and leading where necessary
  • Thrives on constant change
