Description
To support the Head of Employee Relations in managing good employee relations across the University:
- Assisting in the implementation of ER strategy and initiatives
- Providing expert advice and guidance on all ER issues
- Managing and coaching junior ER team members
- Ensuring best practice and consistency across all business areas
Profile
Ideal candidates will bring the following experience:
- CIPD Member (or equivalent experience)
- Up to date knowledge of employment legislation and best practice, particularly in relation to Higher Education and the NHS. Identifying and leading on improvement initiatives being implemented in this sector.
- Providing expert advice and guidance on ER issues to all business areas - reviewing and revising policies and frameworks - implementing ER strategies and initiatives
- Coaching and developing ER Advisers - providing expert ER advice and guidance on all matters relating to grievance, disciplinary, scientific misconduct and other ER issues - ensuring best practice, consistent application of processes and driving improvements across ER
- Managing own caseload including complex cases of disciplinary, grievance and research
misconduct
- Working closely with trade unions, participating in informal and formal meetings and negotiations, ensuring resolution at the earliest opportunity
- Managing restructure and change management programmes in a unionised environment
- Leading on employment tribunal cases, including preparation of paperwork and witness
statements. Presenting evidence, as necessary.
- Evidence of significant experience in influencing and negotiating
