HR Business Partner role for leading government authority in Peterborough, circa £36,000, immediate start, remote working available, FTC with the possibility of being made permanent for the right candidate.

Your new company
Hays are proud to be working with a leading government nature conservation organisation based in Peterborough who are looking to recruit an HR Business Partner, initially on a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension. With a demanding workload COVID-19 created a large and varied amount of additional and urgent work during 2020/21, during all of this, their recruitment levels have continued to increase and are at an all-time high so are looking for an experienced HRBP to join the team to deliver the HR workplan.

Your new role
This is a generalist role with a broad scope as you will be involved in a range of HR related tasks as well as ensuring that HR policies and procedures comply with current employment legislation and best practise and also support the business' strategy. Additionally, this post will involve extensive HR project work. You will be providing general support to the Head of HR and Facilities and advice to directors, managers and employees. You will be leading on the development and review of HR policies and procedures, in line with available Civil Service policies and procedures and organisational requirements. You will be setting up and running workshops and meetings associated with introducing any revised policies, procedures and T&C's. You will also be engaging with key stakeholders including Trade Unions.

What you'll need to succeed
To be a successful candidate you will need to have strong public sector and/or government HR experience. Experience negotiating pay cases with Trade Unions would be desirable, as well as being at least CIPD Level 7 qualified. You will be able to hit the ground running and be confident in providing HR advice and guidance on policy and processes, highlighting issues that need immediate attention, responding to requests and consulting and advising as well as delegating as appropriate. You will have a flexible approach and take ownership on other HR related projects and tasks as they arise. You will have the ability to learn quickly and work autonomously and within a team, always exercising sound judgement and taking the initiative. You will also be able to plan, organise and work well under pressure and managing conflicting demands effectively. You will have strong interpersonal and time management skills. You will be proficient in all Microsoft programmes (Outlook, Word, Excel, PP and Teams).

What you'll get in return
In return you will receive a salary of £35,856 for 36 hours a week with 25 days annual leave, rising to 30 days per year after 5 years' service, plus 12 days public and privilege leave. You will only be required to come into the Peterborough office a minimum of 1 day every 4-6 weeks, so flexible and remote working options are available.
