Hays HR ( Private Sector) are excited to recruit a HR Manager for our very valued Client. This role is based in Cardiff with travel to two other sites. Reporting into the recently promoted HR Manager, part of the HR Wider Group Network. Our client operate in the high end sale of luxury but affordable Cars. This is a super opportunity for a HR Professional who thrives in a fast paced and exciting environment.

Your new role

  • Provide professional input and support across a range of people processes (i.e. recruitment, induction, performance management, succession planning, discipline, grievance and termination)
  • Be known to all colleagues and seen as the 'go to person' for HR guidance and individual concerns
  • Ensure HR related policies and procedures are maintained, communicated and applied effectively
  • Monitor and engage with managers to drive effective performance management through the 1-2-1 system
  • Provide a professional contribution and input as part of the management teams as it drives to improve the competitiveness of the business
  • Identify, co-ordinate and support (as required) training and development interventions to develop our managers/colleagues within their current roles and provide stretch for our up and coming talent within the dealership
  • Assist the enhancement of colleague engagement, welfare and wellbeing
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure effective implementation and communication of plans and projects
  • Communicate key and updated legislation to all business leaders as required
  • Interact with managers and colleagues across your region and be seen as a key part of the business
  • Consult with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate
  • Manage and resolve complex colleague relations issues. Working with management, help to conduct effective, thorough and objective processes
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of colleagues, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g. coaching, counselling, career development and disciplinary actions)
  • Line manage, coach and support the Reception/Host function to ensure each customer experiences service excellence at their first point of contact
  • Work closely with managers and colleagues to improve working relationships, build/maintain morale and increase productivity and retention
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation with support of the Divisional Head of HR (DHOHR) and Divisional HR Managers (DHRM)
  • Administer contractual terms for new hires, promotions and transfers
  • Support managers in delivering a consistent onboarding experience that excites our new starters, monitors/aids their progress and equips them to deliver
  • Provide guidance and practical support of restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Participate in the design, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of training programmes
  • Be a key part of delivering business improvement plans.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven track record of working in an HR Advisor/Business Partner/Manager role
  • CIPD qualified to Level 5 or extensive demonstrable experience
  • Business and commercial awareness
  • Strong stakeholder management
  • Knowledge and application of current employment law
  • Evidence of mentoring, coaching, facilitation and presenting
  • Competent in use of HR systems desirable
